Here’s a breakdown for LSU guard Cameron Thomas.
Strengths
Thomas is a bonafide scorer who has no reservations about any shot on the floor. He has the confidence to fire from distance or attack multiple defenders at the hoop. He isn’t afraid to be physical and use his size to get open looks. Thomas is always looking to find a way to put the ball in the basket. His upside is tremendous as a freshman.
Weaknesses
A good chunk of his points came from the free throw line, meaning his production is largely a result of volume chucking. His three-point shot isn’t great, but can be developed. Defensively, Thomas needs to improve to be able to handle the league’s top perimeter stars.
Player Comparison
Victor Oladipo, CJ McCollum and Gary Harris all come to mind when looking at Thomas. All those guards have the same offensively qualities, although Harris’ development arc is closest to Thomas.
Best Landing Spot
Because he’s 19, Thomas can go anywhere from the end of the lottery to the end of the first round. The Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards could be in need of a scoring guard and would be great fits for Thomas. Further down the board, the Rockets and Nuggets would be thrilled to grab someone with Thomas’ upside.
