Heaney is a lefty, and just 30, but that is about all the good points. He was a career Angel, 8 years, and they gave up on him by trading him. They are a team that really needs pitching. So the underlying stats of Heaney didn't impress them.

He is a rental, but more costly and not as good, as Kent Maeda would have been. The Yankees have 26 (!) pitchers on the 40 man. (yes, some are on the IL), but how much "depth" of pitching does this team need?  The two relievers they traded for have garbage stats.

They pick up virtually any pitcher with a pulse. Cashman continues to fantasize that quantity equals quality. None of these arms move the needle towards making this a better team in the slightest.

I think the Angels picked up all of Heaney's salary remaining, which is why they got prospects as good as even Junk and Peguero.

That seems good, but if no more moves are to be made now, what difference does that actually make? They have succeeded in staying under the cap for '21. Unless I am missing something, that would matter if more moves were coming, but the deadline has passed.

This move definitely
Moves the needle nowhere. Carry on nothing to see here.
