Giancarlo Stanton has not played in the outfield on consecutive days since September 27-28, 2019.

In his pregame Zoom on Saturday, manager Aaron Boone revealed that the Yankees would roll with the same defensive lineup that they did on Friday, meaning left field belongs to Stanton again. It’s an encouraging sign for sure, both from Stanton’s health standpoint and a lineup flexibility standpoint once the team is out of a National League park. It also leaves the question of why it took so long for the move to finally happen, given that Stanton has been healthy for a while now and the Yankees had been giving an outfield spot to Brett Gardner, Greg Allen or Estevan Florial on most nights.

“He came in feeling good today,” Boone said of his regular DH. “I thought he looked really good out there yesterday. I thought he looked very comfortable.” Stanton played 5.2 innings in left field of Miami’s spacious ballpark on Friday, making four putouts before getting subbed out in a double switch.

“Hopefully this becomes a part of going forward,” Boone said in reference to Stanton playing regular defense. “He can get out there and spell some guys.”

Still, Boone said he anticipates giving Stanton the day off on Sunday. It’ll be the Yankees’ final game as a guest in the Marlins’ home, meaning there is no designated hitter.

“We’ll get through today and see where we’re at,” Boone said. “Obviously to this point he’s been all DH this year. Yesterday, for the first time, I was really encouraged. Not that I was surprised, he’s always been a very good outfielder. We’ll listen to him and his body and see how he’s bouncing back. When I checked in with him today he felt good, we’ll just see. He’s going to get the bulk of his reps as the DH. But if he can get out in the outfield once or twice a week, that allows us to use that DH for other guys.”

Boone said there have been regular conversations with Stanton over the last month as to his outfield deployment, with the big man coming to him with feedback on his body and the plan.

No doubt as long as there's no DH, but we'll see how that plays out when we play AL teams ??

Stanton out there is the move and glad to hear it! If Voit gets back he can get AB's as well more frequently to see if he can be like he was before this years 3 injuries. I hope he is but if not then he has trade value as long as Cashman doesn't over value his worth like I think he did before the trade deadline. Just a guess there.

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

If only because it means he's healthy.

As Mr. Obvious would say, the injury prone Stanton was not worth the money. He played one year here and then the wheels fell off. Who knew?

But at this point all we can hope for is that he stays healthy and pulls his weight.

What time do we start getting attacked for talking about Stanton? Every time I post I feel like I'm roadkill waiting for the vultures to come get me.

When it comes to Stanton, the vulture is you.

The only attack dog is you, the way you constantly attack Stanton ... JEGnj the vulture ... good nickname for you.

I doubt it. Because I haven't said anything in weeks and you keep going daily. Just talk about the game and Yankees and enough already. The same few just beat a dead horse over and over and over. Stop hijacking and ruining discussions with reposts and replies.

You don't tell people how to post ... and you certainly don't tell me ... now if you really stop the bull, so will I.

Mo you win. Your the YES Queen and Newinn is the YES King.

Just let my post and discuss with everyone else and leave me alone until you let it go.

As I said, you let it go and I'll let it go ... no easier way to explain it.
