Getting the Band back together 2022

I mentioned in another post a day or so ago that this offseason it is going to be interesting and it will be hard to keep a few players that have started the Yankees on their winning run towards the playoffs. After watching the last two games, even though it was against the Twins, who we own basically, the team as is, seems more cohesive than ever. It won't be easy for Cashman to decide who stays and who goes, and who we should get.  Hal's purse strings will be a deciding factor for sure.

The Rizzo/Voit dilemma, how do we try and get Velazquez worked into the team, is Gary still a Yankee, surely Gardner will be gone, how does Hicks fit in with Gallo here, if they hold onto Gallo, which they should, Due to DJ's off season will they try and move him with Stanton somewhere? How does Odor stay or is he going also, do we really need Wade or take a shot with Velazquez, what about Kluber and Tallion or do we use some of the above mentioned to get replacements?

The list goes on and the thing in my mind is the 2021 so called starting 9 we all thought would take us to the promise land, and some on the pitching staff, all were just a tad over  a .500 team basically until it all came together as it is now. Keeping and getting the winning "Band" back together playing the sweet music they are right now may be harder to do than maybe we all think. Right now I'm enjoying the hell out of the "hits" they are playing how does Cashman make it last, if even he lasts ?" Right now I think he saved not only the season, but his and Boones job. Stay tuned.

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

New luxury tax cap of 180 million with 4 brackets is being looked at ... will create problems for the Yankees if MLB goes with it.

doubt the players nor the teams will accept that and as onerous as the LT ceiling will be, suddenly you're gonna tell the dozen teams under $100 mil, that they have to spend a $100 mil - in some cases double - no way. if that does go through, the yankees and a number of the teams at the threshold are gonna have to rethink how they do business. and it is a business ...

regarding the original post, LT restrictions or not, cashman will face some tough decisions in the off season. at this point, with every game a playoff, will cross that bridge when we get to it. one thing though, the team you field on opening day is rarely the same one you field in october.

All I can say is good luck Brian. Just reading the part about the Gallo proposed deal between the Padres and Rangers made me wonder if there isn't something the Yankees can do similar with Stanton offering up a top prospect and maybe DJ like I was mentioning. I don't want to lose DJ just because of his sluggish season (for him) but to unload the Stanton $ maybe something like that could work. Stanton is not having a bad season at all but that money and his age is going to be a problem sooner or later worse than it is now. Like I figure, it is going to be a really crazy off season. Now we are winning and it needs to keep up and we will see what cream comes to the top in the way of players stepping up. That may help Brian make some decisions. Anything is possible.

MLB can dream. Or in this case, fantasize. No way do I see the MLBPA tolerating or accepting that.

LOL.....why are you getting yourself all concerned over these things now? It's only 8/21/2021! (LOL)

I know that as a Yankee fan, you are feeling all giddy and googly over the Yankees winning right now, but the team still have over a month of the season to play.  We all know that YOU and so MANY YANKEE fans can be easily bankrupt in the faith.

For one thing. there is NO Rizzo/Voit dilemma. You are either making that up in your head and reading some non-sense from a some 30 year old blogger or a NY Sportswriter needing site bandwidth.

As for Velazquez, I am happy for the kid. I would like for him to "steal" Gleyber's job. However, for that to happen a very deep analysis will be done on all factors. Whether Velazquez stays as a Yankee or not, can only be determined only by the professionals. Who knows? Maybe Velazquez is new "Gio Urshella" who was a "nobody" before he became a Yankee and is now a very important player for the team. Who knows?

Why should the Yankees hold to Gallo? Explain yourself. (lol)

As for Cashman's job, it's very safe. Cashman is one of the "best" GM's in the league. Without question, perhaps even the best the Yankees have ever had. His job should be safe. If he were to lose his job, it should be because of promotion. I have been in thIS messageboard since 2006 and I said it once and I'll say it again. A General Manager's success should be based on the details and the reason for the every transaction he makes. It shouldn't be judged on how well the player, he acquired (or traded) achieves or fails, because he has no control over that.

Ya know what's kind of funny? Don't get me wrong....but I like Joey Gallo. LOL.....,but he's sorta like a healthy "Aaron Hicks."  LOL....I know practically alot of the people in the Yankee Fanverse don't like Aaron Hicks because of his batting average, but they're cool with Joey Gallo's .220 BA. LOL....go figure! ROFL.

I may be the only REAL TRUE BLUE Yankee fan here, who absolutelty KNEW that we would be "okay" this season. While people were blaming Cashman (and Boone) for things THEY HAD NO CONTROL over, that the Yankee GM, who is responsible for 5 Yankee World Championships as Ass't GM and GM, would carefully analyze the situation and do what's best for the Yankees and the fans.......and he did. With that said, I have absolutely NO DOUBT in my mind, that whatever happens in the offseason, it's for the best.

Here is a little advice for you......DON'T FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PLAYERS.

Forget trading DJ it aint happening. A little research on your part would have realized that under the new contract he just signed he has a NT for the first 2 years and limited NT the next 4. However after year 2 he becomes a 10 and 5 player which means they can't trade him without his permission period. He signed here at a discount because he wants to be here. I hope this is not the start of a number of unrealistic trade proposals that get posted during the off season. Trading omne guy with a NT in Stanton is tough enough, 2 in the same deal is never going to happen.

LeMahieu can become a 10-and-5 player after the 2023 season. Therefore, if the Yankees decide to trade him, they will have a window to do so - after the 2022 season, and by the 2023 trade deadline.

I used the words maybe and other words in the Voit/Rizzo dilemma and with DJ/Stanton. Just curious about some of the moves that could free up money for Hal. I realized lots of other things that could happen that have nothing to do with any of those 4 players. Just throwing around some things to discuss.

One of them is this young Bronx home boy who would make a Cinderella story for sure should he make the team, which is a real longshot at this point. But, I wonder if they have an offer for him off season, or they decide to use him to trade, if they will let him go to get a nice pitcher in return out of some minor league system.

That 27 year old has become a fan favorite almost overnight and a favorite of the players and I'm sure at age 27 he will want to play somewhere in the major leagues if he continues playing like he is. What a story he is building for himself and his family and IMO it has Hollywood Script written all over it even if he goes nowhere from this season on. What he has done to date is Disney like and that kid is walking on air right now and has given a special flavor to this team and it's run for the prize, and I for one am loving every minute of it.

I hope the ending of 2021 is as special for him as this ride he is on right now. I hope he makes it here, if not, then somewhere. Now that Wade is doing what he is doing it is a tough chance for him to be here along with Wade I think. We will see. Right now that kid is livin' the dream and helping not only his team but himself as a Major League player. He is an exciting player to watch so far.
