I used the words maybe and other words in the Voit/Rizzo dilemma and with DJ/Stanton. Just curious about some of the moves that could free up money for Hal. I realized lots of other things that could happen that have nothing to do with any of those 4 players. Just throwing around some things to discuss.

One of them is this young Bronx home boy who would make a Cinderella story for sure should he make the team, which is a real longshot at this point. But, I wonder if they have an offer for him off season, or they decide to use him to trade, if they will let him go to get a nice pitcher in return out of some minor league system.

That 27 year old has become a fan favorite almost overnight and a favorite of the players and I'm sure at age 27 he will want to play somewhere in the major leagues if he continues playing like he is. What a story he is building for himself and his family and IMO it has Hollywood Script written all over it even if he goes nowhere from this season on. What he has done to date is Disney like and that kid is walking on air right now and has given a special flavor to this team and it's run for the prize, and I for one am loving every minute of it.

I hope the ending of 2021 is as special for him as this ride he is on right now. I hope he makes it here, if not, then somewhere. Now that Wade is doing what he is doing it is a tough chance for him to be here along with Wade I think. We will see. Right now that kid is livin' the dream and helping not only his team but himself as a Major League player. He is an exciting player to watch so far.

I think the Yanks have 2 options next year at 1B and neither involves Voit. First would be to resign Rizzo. If that does not happen then move DJ there and bring in a lefty SS and move Torres to 2B. I absolutely cannot envision another scenario where Cashman puts together an every day lineup with 8 RH hitters. We know Gallo will be back  and that is one lefty. THe only options to bring in another lefty is 1B with Rizzo or SS as mentioned. Yes there is one other possibility. Yes Hicks will be back and is a switch hitter but quite frankly I am not a big fan of his. His play has diminished the last couple of years and this year before the injury that put him out he was brutal. He is no longer the elite CF with a great arm. The arm injury 2 years ago weakened his arm a bit. Decent but no longer great and he does not cover as much ground as he used to. Without that a .235 lifetime hitter to me is not a slam dunk. I doubt they can trade him but this will be a problem to deal with the next few years unless they can find a buyer.

New luxury tax cap of 180 million with 4 brackets is being looked at ... will create problems for the Yankees if MLB goes with it.

All I can say is good luck Brian. Just reading the part about the Gallo proposed deal between the Padres and Rangers made me wonder if there isn't something the Yankees can do similar with Stanton offering up a top prospect and maybe DJ like I was mentioning. I don't want to lose DJ just because of his sluggish season (for him) but to unload the Stanton $ maybe something like that could work. Stanton is not having a bad season at all but that money and his age is going to be a problem sooner or later worse than it is now. Like I figure, it is going to be a really crazy off season. Now we are winning and it needs to keep up and we will see what cream comes to the top in the way of players stepping up. That may help Brian make some decisions. Anything is possible.

Just my 2 cents... I expect the NL to have the DH. Stanton would be an excellent fit for the Padres. He has a no trade clause, but many players in the past were traded who also had no trade clauses, Stanton being one of them.

The Yankees should try and trade both Hicks and Stanton, both trades are doable if the Yankees pick up some money and if Stanton waives his no trade. Stanton has a world of talent, but if the Yankees can free up some money and at the same time free up the DH for Voit, in my opinion trading Stanton makes sense. Some of the money saved can be used to re-sign Rizzo who's left bat helps balance out the Yankees line up. There also wouldn't be a need for the Yankees to sign lefty shortstop Seager who's contract is going to be expensive. Which means Torres stays at shortstop and stays at DJ 2B.

The Yankees luxury tax also resets which is to their advantage, because the Yankees still need a true lead off hitter who can play CF and also need to fine tune their bullpen for the 2022 season.

I think there is room for both Rizzo AND Voit. Part of the purpose I started this thread was for discussion trying to formulate getting Gallo, Voit, Rizzo, Judge, Stanton, DJ, Urshela, Odor all in the line up because they are our best hitters for power. If we go for power and contact with fewer strike outs it is a hard thing to do but Judge, Rizzo Dj, Urshela could accomplish that leaving Gallo and Stanton as tradeable and if the DH comes to be in the National League, then they are tradeable.

We have some small ball guys and also some power guys available in our system now and IMO adding Allen, Florial and maybe even Velazquez and Wade could be on the roster. If they allow 26 on the roster then Cashman (if he is still here) has a fantastic job ahead choosing those 26 guys. To me a more balanced team with guys with power and fewer K's like Judge and Rizzo and even Urshela and adding speedsters and an contact guys is the way to go. Like a few  have said, forget this all right handed lineup that was a damn terrible idea in the first place..So we have enough here to choose from and there is a balance it just has to be figured out and that is the GM's job.

Notice nowhere did I add Torres that was on purpose. I have a strange feeling that kid will be traded for pitching and IMO he should be, he has value but not on this team, and he does have talent but IMO he should be the odd man out considering all the numbers, facts, and speed and power and defense all of which to me he is lacking. Just what I see from him lately this season. All those errors and bad baserunning mistakes and poor judgement in game with situational hitting and he was leading the offenders in every category with Sanchez who I also think may be gone.

Over all it is up to Cashman just food for thought and it is fun to talk about and speculate to me to see what sticks and how our team will be built because we have the goods just need to choose wisely. Right now we are winning and on one hell of a run. We are now thew team no one wants to have to play. I love it. That is Yankee baseball how it was and should be always. Look at the team, look who is playing, look who we can add and drop in accordance who was here and not here when we were winning, and when we were loosing, and it should come up with 13 guys that would make the most well balanced team. That is how I would formulate the start of Yankees 2022.

you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
