that this had the potential to be  the storybook season I as a sports fan live for. We haven't won anything yet but with all the adversity this team has fought like hell. Amazing how some of the so called experts can't seem to grasp it's a long season, with a lot of ups and downs.

Some of the things they've said about this team and it's manager, gm and owners is shameful.. And now they want to jump back on!

Marathon, sprint.  Marathon, sprint. Hello people. We've all been frustrated early on with their play, myself included, but I find it hard to believe how many "fans" jumped ship, wanted  players DFA, Boone and Cashman fired, Hal to sell the team and basically gave up on the team. We all felt it was near impossible to make the playoffs just 4 or 5 weeks ago but some of the posts by certain people were outrageous. Being frustrated and irate are one thing, giving up with outlandish statements is another. Marathon, sprint. Take your pick.

I still believe they could win the division... just need Tampa to lose a few games. September could be very exciting... we'll see what happens.

It might come down to the last series of the year against Tampa at the stadium.

The Yanks just need to keep winning... OGAAT!!

I think even the most diehard Yankee fan did not see such a dramatic turnaround coming. I mean the team was devastated with injuries, our healthy regulars were playing poorly, we were a bad defensive club that couldn't score runs, couldn't run the bases, and couldn't beat the better teams in our division. I have been critical of Cashman for the past couple of years, and honestly, I still wonder if he's the right guy for the Team right now, but he had a pretty good TDL. Rizzo and Gallo balance and lenghten the lineup and he picked up a couple decent BP pieces. Some unheralded players like Velazquez and Wade have been big contributors. It's been fun to watch and should make for a very enjoyable next couple of months.

Hopefully they make the playoffs and beyond, but the last four weeks have been as exciting and well played baseball as it gets. The playoffs to make the playoffs.

Gio Urshela and Gleyber Torres are head and shoulders better individual players than Tyler Wade, Andrew Velazquez and Roughned Odor. Yet the lineup seems to work better with the latter trio playing more and the former on the IL. I am not completley sure why, but the results seem to say the team is better with two terriric talents out. I don't know why, but I do know what I see.

The Yankees were boring and underachieving. lol

So much so that in my opinion they should have been sellers instead of buyers. At the time I figured if somehow they did make the wildcard, making the wildcard would be their season highlight.

But they are now true world series contenders because to Cashman's credit he added players like Rizzo and Gallo that balanced out the heavy righty Yankees line up without going over the luxury tax threshold. Plus, Taillon started to show why the Yankees traded for him, Voit's bat also woke up, and the Yankees Triple A call ups added some spark to what was a dull Yankees line up.

I feel the same way ... right now I'd rather stick with what we have than get the injured players back ... even though they are supposed to be elite players ... I just think the chemistry is so good right now I don't want to change it.

Gio is unquestionably a much better 3B than Odor, but he's made the plays when they counted, as has Velasquez at SS. Both he and Wade are much better SS than Torres. Also, a lot may have to do with all 3 being LH hitters which breaks up the lineup, not to mention that all 3 have delivered big hits.

I'd definitely replace Odor with Gio at 3B. He takes away a lot of hits down the line.

Okay, but I'd rather keep Velazquez at short.

Boone is going to have a lot of arrows in his quiver when September arrives. For years the Yankees have not been a "match up" team and had a steady roster with clearly defiined roles for their players. This team is different. It has quality starters who can play more than one position, DJ and Gallo being the most obvious but they are followed by Judge, Urshela. Odor and Gardner. In addition, they have two utility guys who are fast and versatile in Wade and Velasquez.  With Stanton now playing in the field, Boone is free to manage in a very different way.

Now if only one of those guys can close.....
