Boone made the absolute right decision pulling Chapmanm, though I would argue it should have come after the 4 pitch walk which is often as sign that Chapman is about to totally implode.  That and having Peralta warming up before Chapman started to get into trouble.

But I do not understand Boone's stubborn refusal to use Chapman in non high leverage situations ;ile Friday night and Saturday to allow him to work on whatever his issues are.

Agree that Chapman should be used in non-high leverage situations for the time being...there really is no other option. But eventually he's gonna have to be thrown into the fire, and his performance in less stressful situations is no assurance he'll carry that thru to closing.

chapman looked pretty much like the "old" chapman (in a good way) the previous night and even for the 1st 2 outs last night. then he suddenly lost it. goes into search mode and can't find it. maybe it's a matter of reps. boone just has to pick his spots better.

Yeah...it seems he gets in trouble when he starts nibbling, which drives me nuts. Can't stand relief pitchers who can't throw strikes...usually doesn't end well.

My feeling is if he's healthy he will be OK. I hope so. Wouldn't want to go down the stretch without someone that has done it before.

I think he had to add pitches luv. He'll everybody throws 100mph. Like bumper said, he sure looked good Monday.

Oh I agree, I thought it was great when he introduced new pitches but I think he fell in love with them, couldn't locate at times and used them at the  wrong times. Maybe he should get better selection. If I'm not wrong, I think that four pitche walk were all off speed except maybe one fastball. Just my observation, I've been known to be wrongWink

No and I think Bob also made a valid point in that he might have lost some confidence in the fastball. He needs to get it back.
