If they think Haney out of the bullpen is the answer they'd better guess again. He's a ticking time bomb wether starting or out of the bullpen. Peralta allowed only one run in a week so he's good. Another guy out of the bullpen I'm starting to be concerned about is Green. He's been very inconsistent.

As I said previously...Heaney "struggles" early. Not a good idea, IMO, to have him piggyback Kluber. BTW...other than the occasional bomb, what does Gallo bring that Wade doesn't?

30 homeruns.

If Gallo's name was replaced with Wade and he put up the same numbers Gallo has since he joined the Yanks many here would be ready to tar & feather him.

I agree he has been given a longer leash, I think he gets some slack because of his career numbers.

It's interesting that considering his walks he's obviously got a very good eye, and from what I've seen he doesn't chase pitches, which means he swings & misses a lot at hittable pitches in the strike zone.

As for his astronomical K rate...I dunno that I'd call him a rally killer, but it sure seems he puts a damper on what could've been a big inning, as he did last night in the 5th & 7th.

That's a really sad attitude to have as a professional athlete.  Ask just about any long-term successful player and they'll tell you that baseball is a game of adjustments.  If you accept the bad because of the good, your opponents are going to learn to accentuate the bad and you'll see less of the good.

Don't know if you read his interview, or heard Kay's recounting, but he said he tried to change his game early in his career and the results were disastrous...so he's gonna stick with "who he is".

I didn't hear the interview or Kay's recounting.  You're not going to make a high power-high K guy and make him into a contact hitter.  However, that doesn't mean he should settle on "who he is".  Maybe I'm reading too much into that, but baseball is a game of changes and tweaks.  If he doesn't make some changes and tweaks, his 200 K's will become 250 and his 30 HR will become 10 because others are adjusting to him.

Absolutely correct on your points. No professional MLB player should be satisfied with his offensive or defensive play, but should always be striving to improve. Great players were always analyzing their performances, tweaking, adjusting, changing, where/when necessary to improve.

An all-or-nothing hitter like Gallo should hardly have an attitude of "this is what I am, period, not going to try to make any changes to try and improve". His career .208 BA is bad, and his .335 OBP is approaching "above average", nothing great. He has a lot of room to improve.

Attached is a good article on sluggers who were able to reduce their strikeouts, and that yielded much better offensive statistics.
