As someone has said in other posts...   It all up to the Yankees.   If they win they deserve the wild card game (which will be Toronto).  If they lose they don't.  As simple as that.   After 143 games they are who they are..  Sounds philosphical, but it is reality.

10-0 ... there's no prescribed number of wins. there's 19 games left. obviously we need to make hay during the next 10 because we finish w boston, toronto & tampa. we control our own destiny. at the end of the day we need to win more games than the other guys.

The Yankees have 10 more games until an off day.

I dont have much faith in them playing any better than they have, over the past 13 days.

I think Boone/cashman need to pull some magic out of their hats... maybe put a reliever or two on a short/retroactive IL stint and bring up a minor league pitcher or two, to bolster the reliever corps.  Do that before they Face the Red Sox in 12 days.

As for starting pitching?  It's going to take a little more than magic, I think.

EDIT: I think Higgy catching Gil is a great idea.  Let's see if, together, they can put some innings behind them.

Not so sure about that. I think the shoe-in is the Red Sox, who have by far the easiest schedule.

Toronto at least has a couple of series against the Rays and 3 with the Yanks. The Yanks close against 3 contenders, which makes the games leading up to that, must wins. So far, they look dead.

After the 13 wins in a row, this team has regressed. they usually seem they are close enough to win a game, but they come short. What they got left are teams they cannot handle, even though they swept Boston, but it came when the replacements were playing and they had energy, spunk, they knew how to steal bases and run very fast. They wanted to win and most of all PRIDE.

They have an illness and Boone is the Genesis of that illness

I haven't watched a game since the beginning of the losing streak, my thoughts were back to old habits so this waste of a season is over.  Hopefully a new manager that can keep the guys focused is brought in.

The Yankees need a new General Manager more than a manager. I believe given a more balanced, properly structured team, Boone could be adequate. He did record a couple of 100 win seasons. The main area he needs to improve is his handling of pitchers.

These are highly paid professional athletes, not kids. They shouldn't need anyone to get them to stay focused, they should be motivated do that on their own. If they can't do that they don't deserve to be playing.
