There is a laundry list of things that Boone doesn't do well, I can't think of anything that he does well that would warrant a new contract.  I would say the majority of Yankee fans want him out, I would say a great choice for a new manager would be Buck Showalter.  I want a manager with experience and has shown they have the abiltiy to get the best out of their teams not taking any BS.

Not debating what you said, but what are Showalter's accomplishments?  How many teams did he take to the playoffs?  How many WS did he get into?

Like someone else said he took non competitive teams and made them competitive.  He should've been manager of the Yankees when they went on their World Series run in the 90s and then he got screwed with the DBacks.  He also made a young Orioles team into a better team than they were. Just listening to him when he's in the studio you know he's a man who understands the ins and outs of baseball.

That was then, this is now. The Yankees want an analytical yes man as manager, Buck doesn't fit that mold. If they fire Boone, they'll simply replace him with another manager that does the same as Boone. Until the front office changes their philosophy on sabermetrics and analytics don't expect anything different.

Bingo.

You beat me to it.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the Yanks hired Buck for a 3 year deal to get the team's head screwed on right.

Are you implying they would hire him as a manager or front office? I don't see them hiring him as a manager, someone who is 68 years old, doesn't concur with analytics, hasn't managed in years and has never won anything with a lifetime record of .507.

luv, do you realize except for Buck's age, most of what you just said could've also been said about Joe Torre when the Yankees signed him?

That was a different era, analytics ame sabermetrics were not part of the equation. It's not only the age factor, it's the front office wants someone that will adhere to their philosophy and Buck isn't that guy.

Also, Don Zimmer was the tactician, not Torre. That team was co-managed by Torre and Zimmer. You might notice after Zimmer left, the team more or less declined.
