The real reason Boone has to go

Bad tactician? Sure.

The real reason Boone has to go is that every young player REGRESSED under Boone. Every. Single. One.

That's something you could not say about Torre or even Girardi.

Boone isn't a "player manager". He's a player enabler.

www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/aaron-boone-c...

"When Boone took over the managerial post for Joe Girardi, one of his top attributes was supposed to be his ability to connect with younger players. It may not work in his favor, then, that middle infielder Gleyber Torres and catcher Gary Sánchez have regressed."

Add German, Frazier, etc to that mix.

Yanks will probably hire an authoritarian next. This team's inconsistency screams Boone doesn't know how to keep a team focused. The wild card game proved that.

There is a laundry list of things that Boone doesn't do well, I can't think of anything that he does well that would warrant a new contract.  I would say the majority of Yankee fans want him out, I would say a great choice for a new manager would be Buck Showalter.  I want a manager with experience and has shown they have the abiltiy to get the best out of their teams not taking any BS.

Not debating what you said, but what are Showalter's accomplishments?  How many teams did he take to the playoffs?  How many WS did he get into?

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the Yanks hired Buck for a 3 year deal to get the team's head screwed on right.

Are you implying they would hire him as a manager or front office? I don't see them hiring him as a manager, someone who is 68 years old, doesn't concur with analytics, hasn't managed in years and has never won anything with a lifetime record of .507.

Showalter got the Yankees, DBacks, and Orioles to the posteason. He made it a number of times, check BBR for specifics. He really got jobbed in 1994, when his first place, 70-43 Yankees were cruising along, then shut down by the MLB strike.

Under Boone, the Yanks lost the 2018 ALDS, lost the '19 CS, lost the '20 DS, now lost the '21 WC game. They are regressing, and beginning to get some age in key positions.

Like someone else said he took non competitive teams and made them competitive.  He should've been manager of the Yankees when they went on their World Series run in the 90s and then he got screwed with the DBacks.  He also made a young Orioles team into a better team than they were. Just listening to him when he's in the studio you know he's a man who understands the ins and outs of baseball.

That was then, this is now. The Yankees want an analytical yes man as manager, Buck doesn't fit that mold. If they fire Boone, they'll simply replace him with another manager that does the same as Boone. Until the front office changes their philosophy on sabermetrics and analytics don't expect anything different.

You're all missing the most important point of Boone's tenure with The Yankees.  He played the role of Cashman's pupppet, magnificently.

What's likely to happen, is Cashman will not move away from his "bloop and a blast" strategy, and he'll blame Boone for not being able to execute it.  He will hire anothe guy, who he thinks can execute it, and we will be right back where we started... one and done in the playoffs.
