Who really cares what a MLB Cheater and Liar said about a player? Old Pete is trying to get himself some media attention.

It's strange though because he's also saying you have to rely on Judge.   Whose best season by far was 2017, when he played in 2 more games than Gallo did in 2021 - and also struck out 208 times.

I don't care if Gallo strikes out 300 times.   I'd just like to see him hit 40+ home runs, walk over 100 times, and try and hit over .240/.250.

This season Judge put up really good numbers and cut his K's down to 157. IMO, Gallo is no where near close to being the hitter Judge is and a player who in my opinion doesn't make the team better. The negatives outweigh the positives. I can't think of a ML hitter I'd least like to see at the plate with a runner in scoring position and less than two outs.

His best year was 2017, proof that you can strike out over 200 times and still be great.

But he wasn't great.

Judge wasn't great in 2017?   He won the ROY and only lost the MVP because Altuve had some special bandaids.

The two of you are arguing at cross-purposes. Jon thought you were talking about Gallo. The article he linked was why Gallo isn't a good player.  In fact, you were talking about Judge's career year in 2017.  Jon knows very well that Judge is a very good player.

Gallo's best year wasn't 2017 though, and he didn't strike out 200 times that year either - so not sure how he thought I meant Gallo.

I am just saying you can strike out a ton - like Judge did in 2017 - and still be great offensively.   Reggie has the all time record for striking out and he was a great Yankee.   Ruth struck out a ton for his era and he was the most damaging hitter in history.

Pete Rose's numbers while playing the game should speak for themselves, he's as good or better than many that are in the HOF.. Yes he committed a crime and was punished for doing so... The cheaters are the one's that used steroids, how many of them will get into the HOF is yet to be known, but Pete game he played should have him in as much as anyone that has played the game... I never thought being a member of the HOF was a personality game or ethics case, it's what you did between the lines on a baseball field while playing the game...

Pete's always been a bit of a ****, but he knows baseball. And he isn't wrong about Gallo, or many of today's players.

Pete was 100000% more fun to watch play the game, than most anything I've seen in the last 25 years. And I agree with him on the state of the game. It's increbly boring and I can't sit through an entire 9 innings most days, because it's become homerun or bust, throw it 100 or bust.

Imagine most players being able to bunt when the opportunity presents itself. Or just making contact to drive in a run on a sacrifice.

Gallo is a prime example of what is wrong with the Yanks, and baseball in general IMO. Walks or hits a homerun, or strikes out.

Does anyone else find it a little disconcerting how MLB has embraced gambling ?

Very much so. It has become sickening how many sports betting ads are on TV, the betting odds section of the Yankees pregames, the betting show on MLB Network.

I thought that the betting was mainly confined to the NFL, but now see it spreading like wildfire in MLB.
