Hitting Coach

My question is this, can hitters like Judge, Gallo, Voit change their style of hitting with another hittiing coach ?? So many complain about Stanton and his hitting but if you watch him when he swings, although it isn't a pretty swing, he does hit line drives way more than Judge, Gallo or Voit... They mostly swing for launch numbers, I think that's why they hit so many high fly balls or ground out... They are upper cutting on the baseball, when they hit the ball correctly it goes up in the air and sometimes over the fences, but when they hit on the top 1/2 of the ball they tend to hit too many weak grounders...

Seriously, what does Judge need to change? He was that close to 40/100/.300  I mean, 39/98/.287 doesn't sound like a batter with issues.

This is not quite on point, but I do wish Judge could figure out a way to lose 25 pounds. The guy is massive and I think it will be an issue as he gets older.

I wish I could figure out a way to lose 20 pounds to get back to my high school playing weight. Actually I do know a way...just don't wanna do it.

The problem isn't with the batting coaches. The problem is with the batting philosophy. Everyone knows what the Yankees want to do and knows how to pitch them.

nailed it. The front office establishes a hitting and pitching philosophy and then hires the coaches they think will best carry out their mandate. The hitting coach doesn't establish the organizational philosophy

It will be interesting to see who the replacement is. Will it signal at least a modification of the current approach, sure hope so.

To save money, I think Cashman, in addition to GM,  will take on the role of batting coach.  He is qualified since he understands analytics, what else does he need to know?

You mean this guy????

Lawdy... Lawdy!

25lbs for anyone is alot. Judge is a big man, he has a massive body.

Stanton is the more svelte body type, probably 25lbs lighter than Judge.

I never said Judge didn't have a great year, but his swing is all about launch angels, I'm not going to argue about Judge, but I can remember times of his career where he went through a lot of slumps, swings and misses and upper cutting the ball and coming up empty... When he can prove to me that he can put a few years together like he did this year, I'll say he has a perfect swing...

It makes little sense to me how you can knock anything about Judge after this year but still defend Hicks at every turn. I know Hrbeck told you that the fans in NY were going to love him but aside from a few, that doesn't seem to be the case
