The Rays really do a great job of getting the most out of their resources. I get jealous.

I've been wondering if the Yanks would promote one of the Coaches down on the farm so I took a quick look at our minor league hitting coaches. From what I can tell they are a very inexperienced group. Suspecting the coach will come from outside the current organization but Matt Blake was also fairly inexperienced. I think it will be an interesting decision to track. I'm also surprised an announcement on Boone hasn't been made yet.

A knee jerk post. Can you explain what Thames did to turn them into a less than mediocre ofensive team after several years of being one of the top offensive teams prior to 2021? of course you cannot because we fans never get to see what Thames and the other hitting coach are doing.
Unlike Nevin whose blunders were right there during games for eveyrone to see we never see Thames' work. After 3 years we have no idea if the reason the Yankees grounded into so many DPs is because Thames suddenly changed everyone's apporach. I'm not saying Thames shouldn't have been fierd. Maybe it simply is time for a nwe voice because the players aren't lsitening to what he is trying to teach. But if he is to blamer for 2021'a iodfffensive malaise, he ought to get a lot of credit for how well they hit in previous years.
For as long as I've been here Jonah's answer to every issue is to fire someone.
Isnt that the way it works in most businesses ... if you underperform they release you?
Unless you work for the government.

Maybe this time the Yankees should look for someone who had batter than a .246 career batting average to be their hitting coach.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ .246 is probably higher than most. Most hitting coaches were not very good hitters. Walt Hriniak, considered one of the best ever hitting coaches, had a career .253 BA
