This is only if you were to lose scenario. Would you rather lose early on like the Yankees did and get the pain over quickly or go through all the emotions Red Sox fans went through only to get knocked out after 6 games in the ALCS? Watching these games as a fan with no real attachment to any of the teams it's a lot less nerve wrecking, so there's that. I'm pulling for the Dodgers but I won't be heart broken if they lose.
Curious on everyone's thoughts.

You want to play as many post season games as possible to get the players used to the experience IMO. Although some (like say Swisher) will never be able to handle that atmosphere. Even though it may be painful from a fan's perspective, the Boston players got more post season experience than the Yankee players did. Maybe that will help them in the future.

The longer the Yankees season is, the better.

May as well extend this hypothetical experiment out further. Would you rather be out of contention by the first of September, or lose a one game WC playoff?

huh? of course as long as possible. looking forward to the braves beating the astros.

Doubtful I'll watch any of The WS games... but I'll be rooting for The Braves!

Fans or at least one fan on this site had the Yanks out the 1st week.... The way this team played most of the season I didn't have very high expectations.

Far too inconsistent to have any high expectations. A lot of hope but not expectations.

For me, 2001 is as or maybe more painful than 2004. The '04 team just wasn't that good,IMO. That is real pain, and the sux fans still gloat. So their pain tolerance is still hopefully miniscule where sports are concerned!

If the outcome was going to be pre-determined, where the Yankees were definitively NOT GOING to the World Series, and that I had to choose the losing-scenario, then i would prefer to "get the pain over quickly."Why waste my time with the nerve wrecking?
