It'll be interesting how fans would respond to Correa if he should be a Yankees... As reported.... Correa, who won his first Gold Glove this season, took issue with the five Gold Gloves the former New York Yankees shortstop won during his 20-year career. Derek Jeter, how many Gold Gloves did he win?," Correa asked. "Five, I think he won. ... Derek Jeter didn't deserve any." Jeter won the American League Gold Glove at shortstop in 2004-06 and 2009-10. Correa references fielding analytics, citing Jeter's career minus-165 Defensive Runs Saved, per Baseball-Reference. Correa has a DRS of 67 in his seven-year career with the Houston Astros.

Pretty sure most Yankee fans recognize Jeter was not a great defensive SS.

When Jeter was cheating on defense it had a whole different meaning than the cheating that Correa does.

Forget Correa too much money and too many years.

and too much mouth.

He's overrated, hard pass.

According to scouts, Jeter never made a bad decision at SS, and made plays few others could.
Defensive metrics are hot air, pure sunshine.
Remember how the Cleveland scorer NEVER gave Omar Vizquel errors, even balls that he literally booted or went through his legs?

Jeter had no range. Especially to his left. Beyond that his defense at SS was pretty good.

I wouldn't mind seeing Correa in the Yankees line up. Yeah, maybe Jeter didn't deserve to win the gold glove in certain seasons, but Correa's statement about a popular and Hall of Famer Yankee captain makes me wonder if he's a good fit playing to the Yankees under the bright lights of NYC, in front of demanding Yankee fans, and the NYC media. Correa's statement reminds me a lot of the straw that stirs the drink comment. A statement like Correa's can cause a distraction before the season even starts. Correa might be better than Seagar, but Seager might be the better fit and not only because he's lefthanded.

I know Jeter gets rapped alot for being an overated glove, maybe thats accurate, but he made a lot of great plays in big moments. Also, in those dynasty years, when we really needed an out, no one more than Jeter I wanted the ball hit to.
