Yanks have a bunch of players eligible for arbitration. Cash has shown recently he's willing to cut roster players who have struggled or no longer fit his plans. Some players who might be in trouble of not receiving an offer (IMO) are Sanchez, Voit and Andujar. I guess it depends if he still feels they are cheap enough for insurance if he can't upgrade or if they have some trade value. I would not be shocked to see one or more of these players not offerred arbitration.

Offers need to be made today, or players become FAs. Cashman has several decisions to make. I've seen some speculation that Sanchez is not tendered but I don't know how they could do that without a backup plan.

Sanchez wont be cheap, estimated to get $8.6 in arbitration.  unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything out there either in FA or available in trade that would be much, if any, improvement.  And as Casey once said,"You need a catcher otherwise you will have a lot of passed balls" or something like that.

We have Gary, so we'll still have a lot of passed balls.

The reason there doesn't seem to be anything out there is because the Yankees passed on Tucker Barnhart, Jacob Stallings, Jorge Alfaro, Yan Gomes, Many Pina, and Roberto Perez. All went to other teams for alot less than what Sanchez will make.

true that.  Sanchez has 60 PB in 3796 innings caught or about one every 63 innings (Yadier Molina, in contrast, has one every 187 innings).  Of all active catchers only Christian Bethancourt who has only 1019 innings has a slightly worse rate per innings caught.

I am aware that various posters have made the case for this one or that one as a replacement for Gary.  Yes, they would have been cheaper, but I don't think anyone has made a convincing argument that any of them are that much of an improvement and none of them has shown the promise Sanchez did when he first broke in, though, of course, that was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
