Could they also look at Didi if he gets squeezed in Philly? I think there is at least a decent chance the Phillies could go for one of Story or Correa, and if so they'd almost certainly be looking to move Sir Didi (and probably need to eat a lot of his salary). He was very solid in 2020, could he make a comeback in the Pinstripes after a subpar 2021? There is just one year left on his contract so he could be a good placeholder for Peraza/Volpe.

If the Yankees are looking for a shortstop for 1 year, they might as well leave Gio there. Gio at SS and DJ at 3B leaves 1B open for the Yankees to either re-sign Rizzo or trade for Olson. Yanks should trade Voit.

An INF of DJLM, Gio, Torres and Voit would probably be competitive for a WC spot. I don't think Hal feels he needs to spend money to be better than that.

But with Voit at 1B, the Yankees are too right-handed. If he had the talent of Tony Perez it wouldn't matter that he was right-handed, but he's not on that talent level.
