Looks like the Yankees want to upgrade their starting pitching, and at 1B, since they offered Verlander a contract and asked the A's about Olsen.
So far it seems they don't want to upgrade CF, and catcher. Shortstop is still anybody's guess, I don't consider a player like Simmons to be much of an upgrade. In my opinion, he's more of a bridge to the Yankees shortstop prospects. Speaking of which, I heard a radio host (not Kay) say he heard that Volpe is considered to be more of a 2Bman or 3Bman.
If the Yankees are keeping Sanchez, they should stop the Cole personal catcher nonsense, because with all his faults Sanchez is still a better hitter than Higgy. So Sanchez shouldn't be on the bench in important games.
