Yankees tender contract to Sanchez.

Looks like the Yankees want to upgrade their starting pitching, and at 1B, since they offered Verlander a contract and asked the A's about Olsen.

So far it seems they don't want to upgrade CF, and catcher. Shortstop is still anybody's guess, I don't consider a player like Simmons to be much of an upgrade. In my opinion, he's more of a bridge to the Yankees shortstop prospects. Speaking of which, I heard a radio host (not Kay) say he heard that Volpe is considered to be more of a 2Bman or 3Bman.

If the Yankees are keeping Sanchez, they should stop the Cole personal catcher nonsense, because with all his faults Sanchez is still a better hitter than Higgy. So Sanchez shouldn't be on the bench in important games.

Who are those catchers that didn't want to sign with the Yankees or are you making things up as usual??

Actually, the question should be what catcher out there would be much of an upgrade over Sanchez?

Do you want it in alphabetical order or in iambic pentameter?

Or do you want the simple fact Sanchez is not a catcher?

Yan Gomes would have been a big upgrade but he signed with the cubs, they also could have traded for Stallings but nah lets keep the poor fielding Sanchez because they can't admit they were wrong about him.

first of all, i woulda been happy if they had cut bait w him after 2020.

out of the 9 batting positions, you could rate only RF (judge) and DH (stanton) as pluses for the season. the other 7 were pretty much disasters. however catcher as it turned out was arguably the 3rd most productive position on the team w 32 HR and 80 RBI and league average OPS, so i'm guessing that catcher isn't as big a priority for them as the other positions and they'll take their chances again w the sanchez/higgy combo and deal with gary's defensive liabilities.

How do you know that? Did Cole say that in a conversation where he also said that he doesn't want to pitch to Sanchez? lol
