I don't blame Chavez for taking this deal. It seems Mets eyefully watched Yankees enough to chase after those who was previously employed by them.

This was a promotion for Chavez so good for him.  He goes from assistant HC to the only hitting coach for the Mets.

Good for him and good for the Yankees for allowing this to happen.

1 - It's the right/classy move.   Chavez will remember the Yankees positively for this.   He could end up being a manager some day.

2 - The Mets just settled for our sloppy seconds.

The Mets are in win now mode and they hire an inexperienced hitting coach, sure he was a fine major league but that doesn't make him an expert on swings.

What I don't understand if the Mets were so interested in Chavez why they didn't go after him earlier instead of waiting until the Yankees signed him, This has Showalter written all over it imo.

Happy New Year Luv...Things are pretty slow around here and it is good to 'see you' post.

You are very likely correct when you see Buck's fingerprints. There is also the cross town ties the Yankees have with Mets GM Billy Eppler. I am not sure if it matters much. Except for a few rare instances, e.g. Jim Thome with Charley Manuel or Jeter with Denbo,  I don't think it makes a big difference.
