Didn't see it posted anywhere but I thought it was interesting that the Yankees resigned former "Killer B" Manny Banuelos to a minor league deal. Was also surprised to learn he is only 30 years old. Stories like this always remind me how tough it is to make it in professional sports and what a grind it can be for the majority of athletes who try. Apparently, Manny pitched in both the Chinese (I didn't know there was a Chinese League) and the Mexican League the last year. He had good stats, but probably much more important is some scouts thought his stuff looked pretty good. He's expected to get an invite to Spring Training. He's a long shot to make the roster but I will be pulling for the kid.

remember seeing him pitch and thought he had great stuff but it must have been spring training because he never pitched for us regular season. we originally signed him in 2008 so it's been a long road. wishing him the best.

Ah, yes, the "Killer Bs" Banuelos, Betances and Brackman. Will be rooting for him if there is an ST. I think Brackman is long since out of baseball. Betances is a FA rehabbing from shoulder surgery last year.

betances had a nice 5 yr run. command issues at times but overall pretty solid.

The Chinese League refers to the Tiwain Baseball League. They complete for foreign baseball players like the Japanese and Korean Leagues do. Clipper

I think it was Big Guy who said when these 3 were coming up that one is likely to be a regular MLB player, one a marginal player, and one won't pan out. That assessment couldn't have been more accurate. I really miss his input to these boards.

I think you could say Betances was better than just a "regular" until the achilles tear pretty much has derailed his acreer.
