can't quit on this kid yet. He has shown too much potential in his still short major league career. I think he's a potential DJL type hitter with a bit more power and he is my favorite player on this team.

I hope the Yanks just plug him in daily at 2nd base and a consistent spot of 6th or 7th in the batting order. Seems to me his confidence sometimes gets shaken and it impacts his play. Just put him in there and leave him alone. Don't jerk him around the way they have with certain young players.

So who sits ? DJ ? Donaldson ?   I don't understand a lot of Cashman's moves, including the need for Donaldson, but this team has three "starters" locked up for two positions. I asked this before, but for a Game 7, what does your infield took like ?

Right now Gallo since he's hurt.   If he was hurt in a Game 7 situation, I'd probably go with Gleyber DH, Donaldson 3b, DJLM 2b.

The extra depth is a good problem.   And now uniiversally there is always a DH so you can rotate there - and do it with infielders more often if they're hitting well as Stanton surely looks spry in the OF.

so far boone has done a great job juggling the lineup and getting everyone ABs and i suspect that will continue. having that kind of depth is a real bonus.

right now, gallo's out so it's easy. when he returns think his leash is gonna get shorter. you can't keep playing a guy hitting .150 w a 40% K rate plus stanton's doing great in the OF making gallo the guy to lose ABs.

the best defensive IF is rizzo 1B, DJ 2B, IKF SS & donaldson 3B so gleyber DH's and unless he picks it up, gallo sits w stanton in RF. in 2019, remember jpep going crazy because in the post-season didi played SS, moving gleyber to 2B and DJ to 1B putting voit on the bench. also in '96 tino rode the pines in the WS games at atlanta when cecil fielder played 1B. tough decisions ...

I have not seen any proof of the elite defensive skills Donaldson is said to possess. The forgotten man in all this is Marwin Gonzalez. He might be a year or two past his prime, but the man has ++ defensive skills at multiple positions on the field. If it were the 9th inning, I think I'd find a place to have him on the field.

  1)  I am fine with playing Stanton at Yankee Stadium. I am not so confident having him play at a bigger yard. The injury concern is always there with his legs. The Yankees are afraid to seem him sprint.

  2)  I would not describe Torres as a plus defender at 2nd, but I don't think I'd describe Donaldson int those terms at 3rd. He could be watching a Game 7 in my world.

nor have i regarding donaldson but my sense is that he's "considered" better at 3B than gleyber is 2B. they can probably run some numbers on which IF better. but like i said, if gallo is buried on the interstate then either gleyber or donaldson DHs. a long way to go before we need to seriously have that discussion.

makes no difference to me if DJ plays second or third. If DJ is on 2nd Gleyber DH's but I think he should be on the field.

I still think Torres can be a very good player, nice to see he had a very good game.
