certainly a long way to go but we didn't get to 14 games above .500 until august 16 last season currently holding 4 and 6 game leads over the rays & jays respectively. last year we essentially were never in 1st place. hold the confetti, we know they can't keep this up but have to like this team's start.

Love the start and winning sure can be exciting. That being said I'm a little concerned with the lack of consistency with their offence. While the pitching staff is strong and has avoided injury thus far I don't believe this is a staff that can dominate over the course of an entire season. They need better offensive production.

I don't think any veteran fan of baseball is making room in the trophy case yet. This is fun, but this ain't 1998.

for the record, not annointing anything. pretty sure i did say "long way to go", "hold the confetti" and "they can't keep this up".

share some of the same concerns about offense consistency, lineup construction etc. doubtful pitching will hold up. but while we focus on our shortcomings, most every team has issues. just pointing out that we reached a milestone, we didn't reach until 3 months down the road last season. enjoying the ride as long as it lasts ...

I think I am afraid of being too optimistic. Looking at this group I am not sure how they managed to get the record where it is. I think Michael Kay mentioned the slumps key players have endured already this year. Neither Rizzo nor Torres is off to " a good start" and only 3 guys in the lineip are playing up to the back of their cards - Judge, DJ and Stanton - yet the team wins. The pitching has been better than I expected, even though Cole hasn't been great. Really a tough team to figure.

I've been pleasantly surprised but share some of the concerns others have stated. I do really like the pitching though and think it will be our strong suit all season. If Loisaga and Green can get it going then the pen will be really good. Lineup is still filled with a lot of streaky hitters, some who are low contact/OBP guys so when they slump things can look ugly. With the exception of the Jays, who we have really handled so far, it feels like we have had a pretty soft schedule but those are the teams you need to beat and we didn't do a good job of that last year. Let's keep banking wins and stay healthy!

I'm enjoying every moment... great starting pitching, bull pen and the offense is clicking... finally. Cole was my biggest concern starting the season and he seems to have made some adjustments.
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed everyone stays healthy.

Yankees: 8-2, .203 batting average, 2.12 ERA, outscored opponents by 16 runs.

In a word, that's unsustainable.

Sure.

They're getting big hits at the right time... even Torres.  Come backs and walkoff wins.

Remember Torres, the guy with a big 3 run homer the other day, the guy who shouldn't be a Yankee!
