Judge will cost a boat load. Where are the funds to recruit Bogaets?

Why woud I give Bogaerts the deal that I don't want to give Judge ?   The man is a very good ballplayer, but he is a much better hitter at Fenway than he is on the road.  I already have a 3rd baseman for the next 5 years in DJ and a second baseman in Torres.

If Xander is not signed by the trade deadline, do not be surprised if he is moved regardless of where Boston is in the standings.

If they were going to sign a big ticket FA SS, the one that made the most sense was Seager, and they passed.

Fact is that the Red Sox don't see XB as a shortstop much longer. The stories I've read say they wanted Story at SS and XB at 2nd and he refused the position change.

Neither of our SS prospects is off to a great start this year, but IKF is good enough to hold the fort. The Yankees should have zero interest in XB.

Yes, if they do manage to sign Judge there certainly will not be more money to sign Bogaerts.  Speculation is he is looking for $30 M for 10 years, might get 7 years,  It is judst that with Cashman's love affair with former Reds Sox players, Bogaerts feels like something he might go after as a "consolation prize" if they do lose Judge.  A bit like Rafael Soriano when Cliff Lee took less money to sigh with Philly or Ellsbury when Cano left.

Along with Judge, Chapman, Britton, Green, Castro, and Gallo. Taillon is also a free agent and Rizzo can opt out of his contract.

Chapman and Green are almost certainly gone after this season, Britton as well unless he agrees to a "show us" contract.   Rizzo started off hot but his BA is now down in the .230s and no one was breaking down his door to sign him last off season.  Taillon most likely will be the most expensive of this group to retain.

That's a lot of pitching for the Yankees to replace. I like the idea of the Yankees offering Britton a team friendly contract.

Rizzo is the perfect fit for this team as it's currently structured. Every hitter goes thru hot/cold streaks over the course of a long season...more noticeable early in the season.

Britton is going to be coming off a major injury going into his age 34 season. In his 18.1 IP in 2021, he had a 5.89 ERA and hideous 1.691 WHIP. He likely won't be that good next season, after TJ surgery it usually takes some time to get back to normal performance. Unless any contract is extremely team-friendly, I'd let him walk.

Green's stats and performance are showing signs of decline. He is already earning $4m this year, I'd be very careful what to pay him.

Not sure about Chapman, but I'd keep any deal to 2-3 years. I thought Lasagna was ready to take the closer role, but he has been less than stellar so far this year.

With Rizzo, except for his BA, his other slash line stats are good, including his OPS+, which is the second highest on the Yankees. Defensively he is solid, and the Yanks really need that at first base. I'd surmise that DJLM would become the regular first basman if he leaves, but doubt that is the best move.
