Short sample sizes are just that.

The intention is NOT looking for a sample size. Rather, it's looking for a "TREND" and you do so, by analyzing the last X number of games. The keyword is "last".

C'MON....you should know that!

I don't think anything would make Yankee Fans happier than for Gallo to continue hitting the way he has... I cheer him on, even if he can bat around .210 or so, he would help this team a lot... Just don't know if he can do that on consistent basses ??

Gallo is so strong I don't understand why he doesn't try to become a more contact oriented hitter instead of swinging for the fences.  I know he said he tried in the past and it didn't work out but pretty much his whole career has been this approach and it ain't working either.  Does he not get envious at how Judge and Stanton can carry the team?  He could go the same if he wasn so stubborn.

with his uppercut swing, his bat is in the zone for a very short time. he can't get to the pitch at the top of the zone. probably a difficult adjustment to make particularly since he believes his game is hitting HRs no matter the cost to his overall hitting.

He's made it clear that "he is what he is" and that's not gonna change. Like every other player, he'll inevitably have good and bad spells at the plate which may positively or negatively impact a game.

The issue is whether the negative outweighs the positive over the course of a long season.

He cannot handle pitches at the top of the zone or higher, so he should not be swinging at them. Particularly if he has such a good batting eye with his many walks. LH batters usually like to drop the bat head down on lower inside pitches and pull them. I can't recall ever seeing a hitter who swings and misses at so many strikes, which is his big problem.

Since MLB is a game of adjustments so if Gallo insists on keeping his batting approach, I don't expect him to have a higher batting average than what the back of his baseball card says, nor do I expect him to improve his strikeout rate. It would be interesting to see what stats Gallo would put up if he copied Rizzo's batting approach.
