Seriously, there are thoughts of a MLB suspension. No punches was exchanged. Are players that much of a pansy? From what I hear, it's common among players to exchange ragged banters.

Gardner was Infamous for giving Cole the"business" in regards to the sticky stuff. Talk about being thin skin....whatever happens locker room banter? Does a fight breaks out when someone jokingly said your girlfriend is ugly...

Suspension for sarcasm? Cone says he's not in Anderson's shoes, neither am I. But in my opinion, I don't have to be in anyone's shoes to hear Donaldson's explanation and see sarcasm and not a racist comment or ethnic slur. Jackie Robinson is a Hall of Fame player, well respected with a good reputation. If Anderson was Italian and Donaldson called him Joe D. that's sarcasm, he if he called him Fredo, that's a different story.

Oh yes, the most painful, racist insult of all for Italians - the dreaded "Fredo".  Laughing

Besides the Cuomo troll - who called Chris "Fredo" in reference to him being the dumb brother in his family, and not for being Italian - can you point out any other times in the history of America where "Fredo" has been used as a slur against Italians?   You're being much worse than Anderson  Laughing

I think Manfred has been put into a tough position since La Russa characterized it as a "racist" slur. We can't get into Donaldson's mind, but it seems to me to be clearly a sarcastic dig at Anderson.

If Donaldson said was true how they joked about the comment together and now suddenly they don't than that's on Anderson.

Flipping off fans in Cleveland...I doubt Jackie did that to the fans.

In my opinion, Anderson seems to have more anger issues when there's players standing in between him and Donaldson than when he's face to face with Donaldson. In the infield Anderson and Donaldson both had words with each other. But later on after the benches cleared behind home-plate it looked like Anderson wanted to get a Donaldson, but was held back by his teammates. Later on Donaldson slid into 2B and Anderson with no one there to hold him back only said something to Donaldson. Anyone else notice that or is it my rose colored Yankee glasses imagination?

Yes...but I saw it as more of an effort to put it behind them; not make things worse.

In my opinion...Calling Judge Fredo makes no sense. Calling Rizzo Fredo is an ethic slur.

If you don't agree I really couldn't care less.

That would explain when Donaldson slide into 2B after the benches cleared. But they had words before the benches cleared.

Yeah...I was referring to Donaldson's slide into 2B. Both "chose" not to initiate a Harrelson/Rose or Odor/Bautista moment, and Donaldson did have a little grin on his face on his way back to the dugout.

The worst offender of the weekend was Tony LaRussa. Calling someone a racist today is slanderous. If he had a real issue with it he should have been on the phone with MLB. Donaldson is a jerk and Anderson not much better. But at least they are still young enough to learn.

I agree. But Manfred should also look at Donaldson's explanation, apology, and his willing to meet with Anderson.

See the difference?

Nope I don't, because Fredo has no history of being used as a slur against Italians.

I notice you didn't provide any instances of that ever happening BTW.
