From what I read Greg Bird is heating up in SWB. Unless he can only play 1B, I wonder if Yankees had  any consideration to utilize his service.

1B is Bird's only position, although he caught in high school. Yanks don't need another catcher.

I thought so too, but Boone said that they were looking to sign him before DJ's injury. Just my opinion, but I think the Yankees are going to make a trade. Especially if the Anderson/Donaldson argument ticked off someone in the Yankees organization. Since the Yankees usually make their playing on the field do their talking.

Could also be wishful thinking, since I wanted the Yankees to trade Donaldson since they acquired him. Not that he's not a good player, but I would like to see DJ and Torres be the everyday 3Bman and 2Bman. Donaldson being part of some kind of trade would also relieve the Yankees of all or part of Donaldson's big contract. Such a trade might also bring back an upgrade in CF/LF.

My guess is that Yanks were keeping an eye on Carpenter "just in case".

I would say they're more concerned DJs wrist injury is more serious than first thought and are preparing for a IL atint.

I'm not sure Donaldson has much trade value without the Yankees taking on a sizeable amount of his contract.

Yes they believe the 37 year old Carpenter is the future.

He's 37 and batting .175 over the past 2 seasons ... What kind of question is that?

I don't think for a minute that Ca$hman traded to get Donaldson in order to make another trade with him... Getting him was a stretch, but will help the team, but I think it would be hard for any other team to take him ??

I don't think the Donaldson/Anderson is that big of deal, lots of smoke, but that's not the worst thing that has happened in baseball...

Why would the Yankees want to trade Donaldson? He's a  very solid player offensively and defensively and brings some very much needed attitude and aggression to this team.

Who said he was the future? Try counting, use your fingers if it helps. I guess you missed it the first time...BEFORE the Yankees signed Carpenter. The Yankees have 5 infielders who could start for 4 infield positions. Rizzo, DJ, Torres, IKF, Donaldson. Trading Donaldson for example, would mean DJ is the everyday 3Bman. Sheesh! Next time I will draw you a map.

Hmm, I don't know, maybe get an upgrade in CF? You know, since the Yankees would still have DJ to play 3B.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the way Boone sounded it was like the Yankees want Carpenter on their 25 man roster. So, I find it odd that they would sign another infielder even as a utility player when they need an upgrade in the outfield. I mean Carpenter could take Gonzo's place but Gonzo is more versatile.

Gonzo, Carpenter, DJ, Donaldson, Rizzo, Torres, IKF. That's a lot of infielders on the 25 man roster.
