DJ is an offensive downgrade to Donaldson for sure unless DJ can start putting up some numbers similar to 2019-2020. Donaldson is better in most important offensive catagories right now, OBP, OPS, SLG, etc. I love DJ's versatility but numbers like last year make him nothing more than a league average offensive player. Here's hoping he can get back some of those 2019-2020 numbers. Good start so far tonight.

Defense counts too. At this phase in their careers DJ is neither an offensive or defensive downgrade to Donaldson. Plus, DJ keeps his mouth shut and lets his playing do the talking.

Donaldson is a very good defensive 3rd basemen (1000+ starts)... DJ is an adequate 3rd baseman (140 Starts)

Outside of Donaldson the entire team is made up of passive personalities ... That has been one of their biggest problems over the past few years. No team wins the world series without attitude and fire and Donaldson brings that to the team

Theyve both been in the league 12 seasons and Donaldsons carreer WAR is almost 2 x DJs ... same for the last 2 seasons

DJ is very good but Donaldson is better

Once again...At this phase in their careers DJ is neither an offensive or defensive downgrade to Donaldson. Plus, DJ keeps his mouth shut and lets his playing do the talking.

Tell me...What Yankees looked passive when the benches cleared?

If I were Cashman I'd be open to moving Donaldson even if I had to eat some money and /  or include a prospect. The fact that none of his teammates wanted to defend him says something...and the fact that he is now commenting on the lack of support adds to the story.  Maybe he can still play, but that does not make him a good fit for the roster.

As I said before and even at this phase in their careers Donaldson is an offensive upgrade unless DJ gets back some of his 2019-2020 numbers(looks like maybe he found something in the last few games I hope it lasts) or Donaldson drops off. The numbers back it up. Last year Donaldson had an 827 OPS to DJ's 711. If those turn out to be similar this year then there is really no debate.

DJ's 3rd base defensive metrics are a bit of a small sample with only a 140 or so games, but Donaldson's defensive metrics have always been excellent and certainly better than Urshela's defensive stats.

Here's a link to an interesting article about the defensive upgrade to the Yankees infield this year Yankees’ defense at third base has become a major strength - Pinstripe Alley

I don't think Ca$hman traded for Donaldson to trade him... I know he made a deal to get rid of Sanchez...  Yankee's are pinching penny's now, why would they pay Donaldson to play for someone else... Most likely another bad deal but Ca$hman never admits to any bad deals, so he's not going to spend and get nothing something in return...

I know what you said before, and I disagree. I was reply to Manbot who brought up career stats.

Before the Yankees signed Carpenter, they had 5 infielders who could start for 4 infield positions. Does that signing mean that Donaldson or Torres is going to get traded?

Yes they believe the 37 year old Carpenter is the future.

He's 37 and batting .175 over the past 2 seasons ... What kind of question is that?

The troll is looking for more exposure, it's time to give him some recognition for his baseball acumen

I hope Carpenter stays on. He has an excellent batting eye.

He's batting .188 with 2 walks ????

He has 3 hits that all happen to be HRs  ... yes that's very sustainable ... Isnt that exactly the type of hitter that we have been compalining about for years???

Here's your participation trophy for your thoughts on the Matt Carpenter acquisition troll...
