If there's such a thing as having to much talent, then the Yankees have it!       Laughing

Florial is a AAAA hitter, his swing is too long to be consistent at the big league level.

He’s a lefty hitting .303 in AAA and has an .851 OPS. Plus he stole 3 bases today bringing his total to 21. Still only 24 and never really was given a legit shot. I sure don’t want to upset the Big Apple cart but damn, he sounds like he could be a pretty good ML ball player if giver a chance. The Astros have been an elite hitting club (when they’re not cheating) for years and they still brought up Alvarez and Tucker and they got even better.

Seems like the Yankees have 2 choices. Play him instead of Hicks or Gallo. Or keep him at Triple A and hope he improves his trade value. In my opinion, they should try to trade Hicks and all or some of his 10 million dollar a year contract. It's not like Hicks is hitting the cover off the ball and he only appears to be a .230-.240 hitter.

A .230 to .240 is equivalent to the value of a .270 hitter, today.

Especially for someone like Hicks who hits mostly LH and in to the modern shifts.

It's still mediocre, because going by that same standard a .270 hitter would be the equivalent to the value of a .300 hitter, today.

Florial has had somthing like 35 ABs at the MLB level over 3 seasons. I don't know if he will hit at the MLB level, but to make that judgement based upon such a small sample size is IMO, a bit premature. Id like to see him get a chance to play regularly for a month or two but I doubt that happens with us.

True it is a very small sample size, but a prospect looking to push a guy making $10 M or $15 M onto the unemployment line pretty much has to hit right out of the gate.  A team like KC with no playoff aspirations can afford to give a Florial a month or more opportujnity to show he belongs.  Barring a month or more long IL stint for a current Yankee OF, and probably only Hicks or Gallo, he won't get that on a team looking to make the playoffs and WS.

The Yanks should definitely look to move or cut Gallo in the next month and also look to see if they can move Hicks, if they can actually find a taker. But the answer then would definitley not be to call up someone unproven like Floral to take that spot.

This is not any other year. The last time they have played this far above everyone else in the majors was 1998. They may not have a another opportunity this good again for a long time. Cashman and Steinbrenner should be thinking what can we do not only to secure the best record in baseball but what moves do we need to make to put us in the position to be the best post season team possible.

This is a rare opportunity and they need to take full avantage of it. They should look to acquire a proven upgrade in the outfield (Bryan Reynolds, Andrew Benintendi) and as always pitching.

Every option to upgrade the team should be on the table to try and go all out to win this year. If not this year then when ?

Hicks is a lifetime .230 hitter and has been in the ML since 2014. The shitft was not as prevalent 8/9 years ago as it has been the last couple of years. Listen he has had a couple of big hits this year including last night but lets not forget his poor average with RISP not to mention lefetime he hits about .130 with the bases loaded in close to 60 at bats.

I have no problem with him being a 4th outfielder on this team. The problem is when bot Hicks and Gallo are in the lineup together. Gallo is just a bad hitter. Unless you plan on playing Stanton every day in the OF then a better alternative is needed.

Florial is finally hitting well at AAA, but he also still strikes out a lot there (and cf. with major-league pitching). He'd likely be more vaualbe offensively than Gallo (who belongs on a different team where he'll likey do better), but I think Cashman has (or should have) his eyes on acquiring Benindendi (forget Reynolds--why would Pittsburg scrifice its future?) either by trade (Florial + Andujar + one of our pitching prospects?) or pursuit when he becomes a FA.
