What to do with Florial

He’s a lefty hitting .303 in AAA and has an .851 OPS. Plus he stole 3 bases today bringing his total to 21. Still only 24 and never really was given a legit shot.

I sure don’t want to upset the Big Apple cart but damn, he sounds like he could be a pretty good ML ball player if giver a chance.

The Astros have been an elite hitting club (when they’re not cheating) for years and they still brought up Alvarez and Tucker and they got even better.

Honestly, it would take a season-ending injury or the Yankees finally giving up on Gallo (or Hicks) to bring him up.  He might get some postseason action though, as that speed guy who takes the spot of the 5th starter who isn't needed (although they might like Locastro more for that spot).  They aren't going to bring Florial up if they don't have a place to get him regular ABs.

Seems like the Yankees have 2 choices. Play him instead of Hicks or Gallo. Or keep him at Triple A and hope he improves his trade value. In my opinion, they should try to trade Hicks and all or some of his 10 million dollar a year contract. It's not like Hicks is hitting the cover off the ball and he only appears to be a .230-.240 hitter.

been a question for several years now. still only 24. would certainly luv to see him get a real shot but it's not gonna happen w hicks (and gallo) on the roster who are being paid $10 mil and who they're not gonna sit in favor of florial. whatever production they've seen in the past from either of those two, they apparently still believe they're capable of delivering despite indications otherwise.

florial is having his best season at triple a and looks the most big league ready he ever has. who knows maybe he gets a shot if they ever trade hicks (or gallo). the only negative they could be looking at is he still Ks at about a 30% rate.

Knowing Hicks, he should spend at least some time on the IL at some point this season, so maybe that will get Florial some PT in the majors.

Sans injuries it's probably better to be getting him regular ABs in AAA now.  I'd rather see Locastro be the extra OF at the ML level than Florial because then you'd be depriving Florial of ABs and a chance to develop as a hitter.   I doubt the Yanks will sign Gallo as a FA after 2022, so maybe 2023 will be Florial's year.   Or maybe he'll get traded.

The Yankees are not going to DFA either Hicks or Gallo (the "Steve" dream scenario), so I think you can forget about Florial replacing either of them in 2022.

And the patience may pay off.   Gallo is finally looking like maybe he's putting something together with a close to .600 slugging in June.   And Hicks, despite his lack of power, is getting on base close to 35% of the time because he still draws lots of walks.

Drawing a lot of walks is good, hitting .220, 2 HR 12 RBI, failing with RISP constantly is not good.

I hope Hicks plays like an all star, but his talent is what it is. Would be nice to see Florial get a chance to play everyday for the Yankees. As I have mentioned before, it's not like he's holding back the next Mickey Mantle from playing.

His lack of hitting when he is facing MLB pitchers shows that he needs to learn the different pitches that he will see at the MLB level. I fine him to be one of the most overated Yankee OF prospects in years. Anyone can rake at the current AAA level of pitching. The Yankees need someone, who can step in when needed. I don't see that happening with Florial this season.

He will be part of a trade package if GM Cashman decides to pull a trade at the deadline. I don't know what his Rule 5 Player Draft Status is year.

Florial has had somthing like 35 ABs at the MLB level over 3 seasons. I don't  know if he will hit at the MLB level, but to make that judgement based upon such a small sample size is IMO, a bit premature. Id like to see him get a chance to play regularly for a month or two but I doubt that happens with us.
