How many pinstripes does Singleton have "running thru his veins"?

Singleton was special ... miss him very much.

Of course. Seems he's the favorite of most, if not all, here.

But he had no connection to the Yankees prior to becoming an announcer for the team. Neither did another favorite, Bill White. Jim Kaat, had very little.

Both White and Kaat had limited experience before starting in New York.  Not a lot, but at least some.

Thought we were talking about pinstripes "running thru their veins". In fact, prior to Rizzuto I don't recall anyone in the booth who had been with the Yanks as a player, manager or coach.

My opinion is that if I have to listen to a complete novice, I'd prefer it to be someone with pinstripes. Now if you are talking about bringing me Keith Hernandez I'll buy him a jersey.

Since they were willing to bring in Beltran as an announcer I wonder if they tried to hire Arod as an announcer.  I know a lot of you don’t like him but I feel he’s a great announce, full of baseball knowledge and he loves the game.

He can’t complete a sentence without struggling. It’s exhausting just listening to him.

Man I miss Kenny Singleton.

i've noticed that everyone's first year broadcasting is rough. Just way too much blabbing. They make the mistake of thinking it's important to fill up airspace when it really isn't. After that first season, most of the announcers figure out that perfect balance.

I think Maybin & Beltran will get it.... by next season.

uh....No.

First of all, I don't hear it that way.

Second, Michael Kay is not just the play by play guy, but also the veteran, and the "host" of that broadcast team. It's up to him , and ALWAY HAS BEEN up to him, to direct the topic of conversation among his partner(s).

LOL...there is no such "first year broadcasting is rough" kind of thing.

Lastly, when it comes to blabbing.....perhaps nobody "blabbeled" more than Phil Rizzuto, then Bill White, and Frank Messer. They just didn't talk baseball, but they told stories not relating to the game, as well Birthdays and Cannolis.

The hatred is him is pretty strong on this board ... don't think the people around here can appreciate A-Rod's knowledge of the game ... but I agree with you he is very knowledgeable.

The cannolis were the best part.  LOL

Nothing wrong with banter. I enjoy it, especially when O'Neill, Cone & Kay share the booth.
