Conservative principles...I think that actually used to mean something way back when.

How many years and how much money will it take We, the People to reverse the damage being done by the minority Republican Party to the majority of Americans?

The majority of Americans identify with conservative principles and limited government.

Conservative principles:

Hate your neighbor

Steal from the poor and the middle class and give it to the rich.

And lie big time about being for limited government.

Absurd but please elaborate on the steal from the poor part.  Cubans are poor because of an oppressive system.  Most poor Americans have made poor life choices.

I have taken some heat down here for saying that voters should not be looking for Republicans to vote for because "they aren't as bad as the Trumpies".  Liz Cheney, who is now looking for crossover support from Dems appreciative of her role in the January 6th Committee/hearings and of her stance against the crazies.  Then she comes up with this on the SCOTUS abortion ruling.

"Today’s ruling by the Supreme Court returns power to the states and the people of the states to address the issue of abortion under state law."

Don't fool yourself, independents, even the "somewhere near moderate" Republicans are still too far right.  Got to appreciate the reaction of Planned Parenthood to the chilling future reality Cheney is pushing:

Alexis McGill Johnson, CEO to CNN

"We should not live in a country where some states we are free and equal and some states we are not,'' Johnson told Burnett. "That is why we need the federal protection...there should be no state in the union where this is popular, for politicians and lawmakers to be making personal decisions about ourselves...This is not about state rights; this is about power and control."

There is already speculation...seemingly confirmed by Clarence Thomas' statement about revisiting other decisions that have been precedent...that outlawing contraception may be next on the GOP radar.

The point is, a Republican is going to be elected in Wyoming. Cheney is obviously the best option.

The sooner the country gets a bellyful of the crazies the sooner we can move quicker on solutions to our present and looming problems.  Attempting to change the deeply flawed GOP one Republican at a time...especially when they ain't that far away from the crazies ideologically, would be an interminable and probably futile undertaking.  The all-to-eager reactionaries on the right are already overreaching in their hot rush to take us back a century.  We are gonna have to trust the Dems and the Independents to put an end to it in a more timely fashion.  Wanna do your part?  Could you talk to new and lauren?

Well, ya gotta be pragmatic and face reality. Lauren & New are capable of making their own decisions.

I think I just described the reality we're facing pretty accurately.  I'd like to see something better happen for our kids and grandkids...and beyond.  And, like the thread title says, we can't afford to continue dragging our national feet.  It's up to We, the Electorate...and we have to join forces this year and carry the momentum right into the 2024 campaigns.

We'd all like to see a lot of things. Most recognize the reality, and do what we can.

The first thing we've gotta do is snap out of it, grow some bawls and swarm the polling places.  Voting is still pretty quick and easy...but it won't stay that for long. No other message will change their playbook.
