Silly me, I was under the impression that even hall of fame relievers have blown saves. It's too bad that the "mix master" with 6 pitches had a 7th pitch in last night's games 1st and 3rd inning. The pitch is called the Gopher-ball. Speaking of the 1st and 3rd innings. As bad as the 1st inning was, Taillon's 3rd inning was even worse because his pitches got hit even harder. Looks like Taillon didn't right the ship as good starters do. That is unless righting the ship means going "right" into an iceberg. Does that mean that Taillon isn't a good starter? Of course it doesn't. That happens from time to time, so does having a bad 1st inning. Which is why it would be better to judge by a Pitcher's larger body of work, like a pitcher's career inning ERAs. Taillon's 1st inning is much better than his 3-4 innings.

abreu's "triumphant" return. got to see some of the lack of control but he did hit 100mph. as for schmidt, boone said something about getting him stretched out for starting.
Funny, I just mentioned that in another thread, but I couldn't remember if someone from the Yankees was quoted in saying that. I wonder if the Yankees will use him as a 6th starter from time to time or if they are trying to increase his trade value?

16 pitch AB. probably the longest AB i've ever seen.
That might be one of the best at bats I ever seen.

Gallo being Gallo.
Luv, it's a shame because he does other things right. He's a pretty good fielder, he's good on the base-paths, but so far he won't make adjustments at the plate. He swings and misses at way too many pitches that are right down the middle of the plate. Trying to uppercut the ball too much slows down a hitter's bat speed, Gallo knows that, yet he hasn't leveled his swing off not even a little bit. Remember the days when Carew would make adjustments and change his batting stance in the same at bat?
Oh well, maybe if he's in the Yankees lineup tonight he will break out of the funk he's in.

Imagine how deflating a loss it would have been had he come in to the game in the 9th and served up 3 runs. Bullet dodged! And yeah it wasn't a great start, but "The Closer" lived up to his career trend and had a bad 1st inning, again. The 6 pitch closer, lol.

Well, according to the stats you posted it isn't Taillon career trend to have a bad 1st inning.
Besides. You replied to a post about Schmidt. LOL! You want to talk about MLB and you don't even know Schmidt!
