Yankees, Aaron Judge Avoid Arbitration

Judge and the Yankees have agreed to a $19MM guarantee, reports Mark Feinsand of MLB.com (Twitter links). That’s the exact midpoint between the filing figures, although the deal contains additional possible incentives. Judge would make an additional $250K each were he to win the AL MVP and World Series MVP awards this season.

OK, it's great that they reached a compromise and both sides are hopefully happy. I still think the $21mm ask was reasonable and wish the Yankees would have given it to him.

Glad they avoided arbitration and compromised. I agree that the $21m was reasonable. And to keep relations good with Judge, the Yankees should have paid him that amount, especially if they seriously intend to try and sign him to a long term deal.

agree. $21 mil would be a bargain. and paying him that amount might have generated some will, though doubt it ultimately would have helped in the contract negotiations. not sure why they nickel & dimed him.

splitting the difference over 4 mil is just stupid. They should have just given him the 21 mil (for this year) and it still would have been ridiculously cheap, for this year.

Judge is a bargain at $21 million. Should've just paid it all.

judge is probably worth about $40-50 mil this season. according to fangraphs basing it on WAR, he's been worth approx $230 over his career so far. despite having an mvp season and hitting the game winner the night before, they decided to humiliate him, which is what those hearings are all about. he was all dressed up and ready to go to the hearing and yeah they "compromised" at the last minute. and despite his comments that all was well, who knows whether it affected his performance. the last 2 games were his 1st back-to-back 0-fers of the season. he also said if he had gone to the hearing he would missed friday's game. this has randy levine's stench all over it.
