didn't get the trade as i saw no spot on the main roster for him at all. relieved he's going to SWB. a depth move. certainly didn't mourn his departure. kid never lived up to his potential. he's got versatility but what good is that if you can't hit. IKF is way better.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He's not a "replacement" for IKF; possibly a backup. Doubt Marwin Gonzalez should be looking over his shoulder, but Gallo might. Wade "is what he is" offensively, but so is Gallo.
So is IKF
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wade is a better glove than IKF, who's a much better hitter than Wade has shown.

Wade is as good as IKF - and that means that the competition is between Anthony Volpe and Oswaldo Peraza for the future.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wade is definitely more versatile, but no way I'd swap Wade for IKF. IKF has made some outstanding plays at SS, and knows who he is offensively...doesn't try to do too much.
I give IKF a lot of credit for knowing who he is and playing his best game. I do get nervous with the errors. I like both players but I don't think either of them is in the future plans for the Yankees. Championship teams do not need a star at every position. Of course, it is nice not to have a black hole in the outfield.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think it's a given that whoever plays SS is a placeholder...if it's possible to be one for 2-3 years, or however long it'll take before one of the prospects is ready. And, of course, a star isn't needed, or even realistic, at every position. As for the OF...IMO any option the Yanks have to replace Gallo is a major upgrade.

Wade and his .554 OPS are in AAA for the Yanks now.

agree about IKF. he does make some great plays which makes me all the more surprised when he makes an error. believe his 11 is tied for the league lead. offensively he stays within hin
overall the IF defense is much improved having gone from one of the worst at -39 DRS to #2 at +25 DRS.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yeah...I've acknowledged that Wade is a better glove than IKF, and Velazquez was even better than Wade. Not really into the advanced stats, so I don't know how IKF rates using those, but I have no complaints re his overall play at SS. Not all that uncommon for some players to make web gem plays and ocassionally struggle with the routine play.
not the guy, meaning IKF, you want leading off an inning and need base runners when you are trailing, but he has had some HUGE hits with men on in clutch situations
