Lol. Gallo should have some respect for himself and request a trade... Andujar did and I my opinion he's a better player. Plus, Boone needs to figure out how to used Carpenter a little bit more...cause Donaldson and Gallo ain't do it!

LOL....that makes no sense. For Gallo to have respect for himself, why request a trade? To escape New York? That would label him a coward. Andujar requested a trade, because of lack playing time at the big league level. Do you understand the difference?

heard the statement. wouldn't necessarily call it "defending", more "supporting". boone (as are most managers) is a former player and understands the ups & downs etc. if gallo is gonna be on the team (and he is), then they're playing him with the hope (as fleeting as it is) that he can become the player they think he can be (1st half last season). sitting him does nothing to accomplish that. so for now boone, is finding a balance between playing him and getting the other guys like gonzo into the mix. a DFA isn't happening now no matter how much folks want it. once we get into trading season after the ASB, hopefully they'll find a taker. only then will they consider a DFA.

Not sure what Boone said, but it always surprises me when fans are surprised that Managers stick up for players publicly. That's what the good ones do. We have no idea what the conversations are behind close doors, but if you want to lose a team, start criticizing players publicly.

Defend him, but stop putting him in the lineup.
Yanks as a whole how a .167 average in their last 10 games. They don't need a sub .170 hitter in the lineup.

All good points. Gallo seems to have the support of the guys on the field with him. They know the pressure of trying to hit a baseball. Carpenter is the toast of the town today but just a few weeks ago his talent was missing - as Gallo's is today. The Yankees might opt to move on from Gallo, but Boone has to support him while his is on the roster.
