In addition to Florida's governor engaging in human trafficking, school censorship, promoting the culture wars, forming a brownshirt election police force, and gerrymandering, a new report shows that Ron DeSantis has been turning a blind eye to the emergence of extremist groups in his state.

From CNN:

"A new Anti-Defamation League report has found an 'extensive' network of White supremacists and other far-right extremists in Florida, which the organization says is home to the most people charged in the January 6 insurrection.

'Florida is home to an extensive, interconnected network of white supremacists and other far-right extremists,' the Anti-Defamation League says in the report, warning that new groups have surfaced in the state in recent years while existing groups 'have broadened their audience both online and on the ground.'

The anti-hate group's findings are documented in a new report titled 'Hate in the Sunshine State: Extremism & Antisemitism in Florida, 2020-2022'..."

DeSantis is being correctly labeled by his critics as a "dictator-wannabee"...

DeSantis told a Hillsdale College gathering in Naples, Fla., last February, “The first thing I said to the general counsel was: ‘I want you to give me a binder of all the authorities of the governor. What can I do as a matter of constitutional right without anybody checking me?’”

"...On June 3, DeSantis announced that he had line-item vetoed $35 million in state funds approved by the legislature for a new Tampa Bay Rays training facility after the baseball team publicly spoke out against gun violence through its Twitter account. DeSantis, an opponent of gun control, said it was 'inappropriate to subsidize political activism of a private corporation.'..."

I wonder if DeSantis feels the same way about religious corporations carrying out political activism in his state with tax exempt funds...

Oh, wait...

"DeSantis has passed bills that monitor the political ideology of faculty and students. Higher-ed institutions have censored faculty, barring some from testifying against state redistricting proposals and constraining how they talk about issues like race. The DeSantis administration has encouraged students to monitor and report on professors whose views are 'not acceptable, 'a practice akin to what happens in China.

DeSantius has signed bills that limit discussions in the classroom or the ability of people to protest. His administration stymied the right to vote for former felons, making it not just much harder to reclaim that right but refusing to provide information to those seeking to know what they needed to do to vote and prosecuting citizens who mistakenly voted because of confusion. He has attacked L.G.B.T.Q. groups, and his press spokesperson has labeled anyone that opposes their 'Don’t Say Gay' bill as 'groomers.'" -- Donald Moynihan, a professor of public policy at Georgetown University

Welcome to a possible DeSantis America...

"..'On Monday, September 19 in Bexar County, Texas — where the flight of migrants originated before going to Florida and later, Martha’s Vineyard — Sheriff Javier Salazar announced that he would be opening a criminal investigation of DeSantis. And since then, according to Vice’s Paul Blest, Salazar’s office has been inundated with 'threats.'

Salazar, at a press conference, told reporters he believes the migrants were 'lured' to Martha’s Vineyard under 'false pretenses' in violation of both county and federal law. In a brochure that Popular Information posted on September 19, migrants were promised 'eight months cash assistance' as well as 'food,' 'housing' and 'job placements.'

On September 20, the day after Salazar’s announcement, a spokesperson for his office told Vice, 'There have been numerous threats, an influx of calls to our dispatch and administrative offices, along with hateful e-mails received…. Additionally, as in any instance when our office receives threats, precautionary measures will be made for safety of all personnel.'

One of the Massachusetts Democrats who has been calling DeSantis out is State Rep. Dylan Fernandes, who described DeSantis’ actions as 'f****** depraved.' On September 18, Fernandes — whose district includes the Martha’s Vineyard area — tweeted, 'We are requesting that the Department of Justice open an investigation to hold DeSantis & others accountable for these inhumane acts. Not only is it morally criminal, there are legal implications around fraud, kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, and human trafficking.'..."

More on DeSantis...

"Two months before he was Gov. Ron DeSantis’ pick to oversee Florida voting, Cord Byrd was a featured speaker at a seminar for people who falsely believe the 2020 election was stolen and wanted training to stop it from happening again.

Leading the Orlando summit was Cleta Mitchell, a conservative lawyer deeply involved in Donald Trump’s failed plot to overturn the 2020 election. In audio obtained by CNN, Mitchell introduced Byrd as someone committed to 'election integrity ' – a phrase that has become a dog whistle for stoking myths about voting vulnerabilities. Mitchell described Byrd, a Republican state lawmaker at the time, as a trusted sounding board for new election policies and an active participant in weekly calls she hosted with like-minded officials across the country.

In turn, Byrd encouraged Mitchell’s trained activists to stay vigilant in the coming elections.

'You’re going to be our army on the ground monitoring your local (election supervisors) to ensure that they’re doing their job right,' Byrd said in the March recording. By the end of May, he was Florida’s next secretary of state.

Byrd’s past collaboration with Mitchell, unreported until now, is illustrative of the access election deniers and those who have given oxygen to their conspiracies have gained in the highest levels of DeSantis’ government. For the past 10 months, top officials in DeSantis’ administration have met numerous times with Florida activists greatly influenced by Mitchell and other national figures involved in the scheme to overturn Trump’s 2020 defeat, according to records obtained by CNN. These activists, who operate under the name Defend Florida, argue that even the election results in the Sunshine State – which Trump won by a healthy margin – were tampered with..."

Florida's female athletes are now facing state government that wants to monitor their menstrual cycles.  I'm guessing Ronnie's Perverts aren't gonna monitor male athletes' masturbatory emissions, though.  Hidden dorm room cams, maybe?
