The biggest advantage to letting them go is we probably wont have to read here on a daily basis on letting their replacements go until the end of April.

Geez New... you beat me to it! I was just about to post... who gets fired 1st? I'd fire the hot dog vendors followed by the bat girls and boyz!

It will be interesting to see what happens. Hal was pretty angy after last year's post season and I can't believe he will be happy with being swept by Houston this post season. He's a guy I can't read and while I know this thread is a little bit tongue in cheek, I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of them were replaced. If I'm Hal, I'm calling Cash into a meeting and asking him what has to change for this team to be more competitive in the playoffs. I would be expecting to hear a plan that includes some change in direction. Can't continue to have an offense that is so dependent on hitting HRs and a payroll that is so top heavy in salary. I've been one of the biggest defenders of Boone on this board, but I will say that some of the criticism he received in the Houston series was justified. I thought he did a poor job managing the pen. He was put in a bad position because he had a playoff roster full of holes, guys slumping or really inexperienced. He could have managed a perfect series and we still would not have won. But some of his decisons were head scratchers.

If Hal wants to change his baseball operations officer he knows enough about Cashman to make a decision. I would but Hal might feel that Cashman is doing fine. All I am saying is that asking for a plan from a guy who has run the baseball part of the business for almost 20 years doesn't seem necessary.

I understand '55 but frankly I'm never too critical of managers or GM's because they are dealing with far, far more information that goes into their decisions then I have. There decisions aren't made in a vaccume. They don't have the ability to deal in hindsight the way guys like Jonah and that vd guy do. If I had the same info they do with the same accessability to the guys in the clubhouse I would feel justified in being critical of them. Let's face it, much of the fun is putting ourselves in a position of "what would I have done" and i enjoy doing that also but I don't take myself as serious as some of the clowns on this board do. I'm convinced Jonah and those like him actually believe they are more baseball smart then Cashman. Hell vdclown even said he is baseball smarter then Boone. I came to realize that I have absolutely no control of the outcome many years ago. Some of these guys think they do

I don't get upset as much as I once did but if we did not take it seriously would it still be fun ? I do not wager. I do not play "fantasy" baseball. I do have a tradition as a Yankee fan and that keeps me interested 365 days a year. On a baseball site you get all kinds of idea, opinions and posters. The people who annoy me are those who are not respectful of everyone else. I appreciate and respect the folks I communicate with and the other guys just don't bother me.

Cashman's gotta go New.... He's long overstayed his value to the team.
I've said so in other threads, I think you know why I think he has to go... But it's long overdue. This mess is a direct result of Brian Cashman's management, policies and techniques. No GM has ever lasted so long as a GM of a single team. At what point do you move on from him? This team has not been world series caliber since 2003 (2009 is an outlier because the kids wanted to give daddy a world series victory in his new stadium to fulfill his legacy). You can blame parity, you can blame any number of things. ...and I'd say ok, if teams like the Astros and Red Sox couldn't constantly dominate their divisions. People win when they have the stomach to win. Cashman and the Steinbrenners only have a stomach to make money, and pay their bloated management team.

I respect New and appreciate his posts. There are times when I think I come on too strong...but I really just like the debate.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I don't think you come on too strong at all. In fact, I believe the opposite to be the case.
