Michael Kay: Yankees working on something "bigger" than Rodon

Michael Kay says that his sources say that the Yanks are working on something bigger than Rodon. He could be Carlos Correa or a major trade.

A trade will probably involve Volpe/Peraza if the Yanks want to get rid of Hicks and/or Donaldson. However, the Yankee rumors also say that the Yanks will get a good long look at them up the middle during spring training.

Then there's Stanton. With the DH in the NL, Stanton stated the only place he'd allow a trade to is the Dodgers, and the Dodgers have room.

There's also whispers about Ohtani.

Stay tuned.

lol! Let the speculation begin...

The LAA are for sale, so... Trout? Or more likely Ohtani? The Yankees trading for one of those two players might not be as far fetched as it sounds. Think about it... The owner of the LAA might want to reduce payroll or trade a player that they might think they can't or won't sign before selling the team, the same way the Nats did when they traded Soto. Maybe the Angels take Donaldson's contract with the Yankees eating some money plus prospects that LAA need. The Yankees were linked to Ohtani over the summer.

Tatis? Did he wear out his welcome in SD? Would the Padres try to free up money in order to re-sign Soto?

Reynolds has been linked to the Yankees, but in my opinion that's not bigger news than if the Yankees signed Rodon.

Andrew Brackman announced today that he is returning to baseball. The former Yankee prospect will resume his Yankee career in 2023 and surpass Aaron Judge as the biggest player in the Yankee clubhouse.

Trout is an Angel lifer. There's zero chance he's traded or let go. Ohtani has expressed desire to be on a winner.

There's no interest in Tatis at all. Soto is likely to be traded at the deadline this or next year, since they snagged Bogaerts.

Benintendi is more likely that Reynolds. Reynolds would be an option if all else fails. Yanks might look at Conforto, but too many teams showing interest.

He's also be the oldest player on the roster

Looking around MLB my guess is that the Yankees might be working on a trade for Ohtani because of the reasons I posted. If that's correct, I hope they don't trade for him unless he signs a contract extension.

Other than the players I mentioned, I have no idea what other players might be available that would be bigger news than the Yankees signing Rodon.

Gonna be hard to get Ohtani to want to sign an extension with any East Coast team.

He's a Dodger or Padre waiting to happen.
