- First off, Volpe is closer to being MLB ready than Pereira - Maybe ... Yankees need a LFer more than they need a 2nd baseman right now
- They tried to trade Torres to the Marlins for Lopez - The Marlins waanted Gleyber and the Yankees said no Thanks
- The Yankees aren't going to have a 15 million dollar player on their bench - DJ is going to play 3rd, 1st, 2nd and DH ... If he is healthy
- In my opinion 3B will be DJ's in 2024 - DJ will be 36 in '24 and has never started more than 47 games at 3rd base in a season and that was as an injury fill-in. DJ will never be a full time 3rd baseman at this point in his career.
Yeah, the Yankees need a LFer more than a 2Bman, that's why Torres is the most likely to get traded, for the reasons already mentioned.
The Marlins also wanted Peraza along with Torres in the trade for Lopez. Remember, Hal said that Peraza and Volpe will get long looks in Spring Training. That doesn't sound like a vote of confidence that they will re-sign Torres when his contract is up. DJ has played 1416.2 innings at 3B. Besides, 3B is a less demanding position than 2B. And the season where your mentioned DJ playing 47 games at 3B you failed to mention that same season DJ won a Gold Glove. DJ will be 36 in the middle of the 2024 season, so what? He could be keeping 3B warm for Sweeney if he's MLB ready in a couple of years. Arias might be better than them all, but he might only be in Double A by then.
3B is a less demanding position than 2B - Now you are just being silly DJ playing 47 games at 3B you failed to mention that same season DJ won a Gold Glove - DJ never won a gold glove for 3rd base
It shouldn't be silly to anyone that actually played the game.
DJ actually won 2 gold Gloves in seasons where he played part of those seasons at 3B.
DJ never won a GG for 3rd base

DJ won a Gold Glove with the Yankees in the 2022 season where he played more games at 3B than any other position. He won it as an utility player which includes him playing 3B. Is there any doubt that DJ is a good fielder no matter where the Yankees have played him?

DJ never won a GG for 3rd base He is a good fielder particularly at 2nd base when he was younger and less injured ... he made a few goofy plays at 2nd going back on popouts last year. I think his best days are behind him but it would be great if he could play 120-130 games in 2023

Utility infielder includes DJ playing 3B. Besides, DJ has proven to be a good fielder no matter where the Yankees have played him.
