Yankees have reportedly barred him from playing for Dominican Republic in the WBC and he is openly expressing his unhappiness. Can't really blame the Yanks given his lengthy injury history. He was also openly unhappy about being placed on the 60 day IL last season. Another Betances situation? When Dellin hit FA I got the feeling that the only way he would return to the Yankees was if they were the only team to offer him a contract. Severino will be a FA at the end of this coming season. Of course his next contract will depend heavily on how he pitches AND his health. But will the Yankees have to blow every other team out of the water to keep him?

He's become disgruntled and that honestly concerns me about his performance this year. Hopefully he'll do the right thing and pitch lights out to get himself a free agent contract elsewhere at the end of the season, but too often disgruntled players don't play up to expectations.

Let's not make news out of nothing ... It doesnt matter what Severino thinks. If he doesnt like it ... he is a free agent next season and can leave If he pitches great ... the Yankees probably go to the World Series this year and Severino can do whatever he wants after If he pitches bad ... good riddance That's really it ... nothing to talk about

It's too early to tell what kind of contract the Yankees might offer Severino. Ohtani so far is the star of next off season's free agent class, but I doubt he signs with the Yankees unless the Yankees trade Stanton. Nola and Giolito could be free agent options for the Yankees if Severino signs with another team.

And yet Cashman chose Betances whom the Indians wanted more over Andrew Miller.

I am not a fan of the WBC and this is a big reason why. In a world where every pitch is tracked, recorded and analyzed, I don't hink I'd want my pitchers competing in tournament games.

With the future and payroll in mind, Cashman was right to keep Betances. Miller had 1 good season after he left the Yankees.

Cash made the right call not allowing him to pitch in the WBC. As far as the 60 day DL, not sure. I could understand Sevy being preturbed if he felt he was capable of pitching considering his reputation of being injury prone. It would have been nice if player and GM were on the same page but some times that's just not possible.

We will never be privy to the assessments of the medical staff. One thing that is common in most athletes is that they are competitors and they're going to overestimate their ability to compete and not be injured. The Yankees may have made the right call here and I can understand Severino not liking it.
