Looking forward to seeing Nasty Nestor there in a few weeks.

If Severino is ticked off at Cashman for beig selective in his decision making...I get it.

Cashman would be right in having selective decision making since Cortes wasn't on the IR for better part of the 2019, 2021 seasons. Severino also missed the entire 2020 season. Plus, for the 2023 season Severino is probably going to be on an innings limit since he only pitched 113 innings total last season.

I am still a fan of one set of rules for everyone. Once you make case by case decisions, your motives are questioned. Is representing the DR less important than representing the USA ?  Maybe not to Luis Severino and his family/

He's earned 32.75 million to pitch 108 innings since 2020.   He and his family are set up for life because of that money, and he's got 15 million more coming to him in 2023.

The Yankees have WS aspirations for 2023 and a healthy Severino is a big part of that push.

I am on the Yankees side here, 100%.   If he wants to support the DR he can donate to their team, he has the dough to spare.

Sometimes it matters more how your decision is perceived than how it is made.

It sounds like the majority do not care how you and Severino perceive the decision but are glad that cashman made the decision

It seems to me, the team that pays your salary should have the say-so whether he should be able to pitch in games not for the good of the team ??

I don't even care about my feelings, I know I cannot pitch. The guys who counts is Severino. The Yankees need him.

I was fine with Cashman's explaination why he didn't want Sevy to pitch. He stated he wanted him to ramp up slowly and avoid early competitive innings to increase the liklihood he stays healthy this season. I think it would be hard to argue with that reasoning. I'm not sure you can treat all professional athletes exactly the same because their situations are different. As long as there is logic behind a decison and it's explained to the player I'm ok with it. I wish Cortez wasn't pitching either but thats because I'm a bigger fan of the Yanks than the WBC and don't want to see even a small chance of injury.

yup fine w cashman on sevy not pitching. we need him way more than the wbc does.

would also rather cortes didn't pitch either but he seems to be one of those rubber arm pitchers (though he did come up lame in game 4 against the astros. in general, rather see our guys save their bullets for us instead of a team i don't give 2 poops about.

Loaisiga, Cortez and Torres are all playing in the WBC. Not ideal, but it is what it is.
