It doesn't seem that things between Severino and the front office are in a good place:

I'm on Sevy's side ! The Yankees have proved that they are inept at handling players so no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt

frequently injured and frequently openly critical about how they handle him.  Shades of Dellin Betances.  He is a FA after this season.  I wouldn't be surprised if he takes less money and/or years just to get away from them.

Judge was also critical of how his recent injury was handled. Sevy also felt he could have pitched earlier last season. It's difficult for fans to know who's right but it also feels like the Yankee training staff continually is questioned as to how these things are handled. I'm willing to give Sevy the benefit of doubt in this case.

I think it is difficult for anyone to have confidence in the Yankees medical/training staff. With that being said, I can understand both the Yankees being cautious about bringing back such an important player, as well as Severino's impatience with the process.

He is a FA after the season so, of course, he wants to get back out on the mound.  it is in both the team's and Sevy's interest to be sure he is as healthy as possible before throwing him out there.  Given that Boone in particular downplays the seriousness of any injury (though everything he says is pretty much scripted from above) and the acquistions of Bader, Montas and Rodon do certainly cast doubt on the competence of the medical and training staff.  But they cannot really defend themselves.   no way they can come out and say "Look we warned cashman that Montas was an injury waiting to happen and he ignored us" for example.

Rob, intellectually I understand what you are saying about Sevy. He also felt he was shut down too long last season and it wasn't his walk year. Maybe he's a competitor and he wants to play. I can't say if the Yankees approach to injury prevention and management is effective, but the results would argue against it. As much as I dislike Cashman and think he is the prime reason the Yankees have underachieved so much lately, I have a hard time believing he would ignore the medical staff when committing resources for new players. If that were the case, IMO, he would be negligent.
