Yep ...DJ has been pretty beaten up the past couple of years and he's going to be 35 this year. These arent minor injuries  ...

  • Foot/Toe Injury
  • Hip Injury
  • Sports Hernia and surgery

He's a pretty large man playing a smaller man's position and getting up there in age.

He also said himself that his skill set is better suited to moving around to multiple positions than playing a fulltime position

LeMahieu was forced to miss the postseason for a second year in a row, having ended the 2021 season on the injured list with a hip issue and later undergoing surgery for a core muscle injury.

not comparable, of course, pitcher vs position player, but Montas essentially went from rest and rehab and missing the first month of the season to season ending surgery.  So pardon me if I take any Yankee comments about a player's health with a very large grain of salt.

Dj's versatility and bat would be very hard to replace and it doesnt help that Rizzo is excpecting back issue.

I agree replacing DJ would be difficult.  But the Yankees declaring that he will not need surgery doesn't particularly re-assure me.  I believe there are three 60 day IL candidates currently, Gil, Montas and Effross.  What do you think the over/under is on how many other guys will end up on the 60 day IL before the end of April.  I'll go with 2.5.

Praying for the under ...

Top Positional candidates ... DJ, Rizzo, Stanton (least painful)

Top Pitching Candidates - Sevy, Rodon, Loaisiga (least painful)

We could withstand Stanton and Loaisiga at the most
