Severino and German have been bad, and it's at this time that you start to take pitching results seriously.

That and once again starters are also hurt.

no denying but will wait until the games start before getting really concerned.

I'd be more worried about German than Severino.  Sevy appears to be working on different things, whereas German is putting forth his best effort for a starting spot.

i'm less concerned about the performance and more about the injuries, most of which seem avoidable in my eyes.

Barring any future injuries, we need to slot 2 starters. Seems like Clarke Schmidt will grab one of those roles. We really then need German to be a minimum 5 inning starter at that 5th slot because we don't have anyone else just yet. Ideally, it would be Deivi, but I think his mentals aren't there just yet to command a full-time starting role.

The news on free agent signing Tommy Kahnle is not very good either. It does not feel like the bullpen depth is going to be available to bail out the limitations in the starting rotation.

I realize that the pre-season does not mean much but their pitching has not inspired a lot of confidence.

It is a loooong season and time always reveals all.

I didn't understand how some were saying the Yankees had the best rotation in MLB. Potentially, it could be very good. However, as I see it they have 1 pitcher in Cole you could be fairly comfortable protecting 15 - 20 wins for. After that, they have a bunch of questions with high upsides. I am very uncomfortable with this pitching.

Season begins in 10 days.

(PS. Who'd have imagined the Yankees would open their season against the Giants and Phillies?)

Well ... I'm pretty sure that was before they lost 2 starters ... but if Rodon is fine in a few weeks they are still one of if not the best starting rotation in the league. What staff is better?

Mets starting pitching was ranked # 2 to the Yankees ... Would you be comfortable projecting Sherzer for 15-20 wins at age 39 and Verlander at 40???

I'd be more surprised if one or both didnt end up missing some time.

Also knowing your qualifications for being an ACE ... Would you consider Scherzer who hasnt reached 180 innings since 2018 an ACE??

Who do you think has the best rotation in the MLB ?

I don't know, but I think the Yankees have far too many questions to say it's them. I hope it's  them.

Scherzer's very good until he proves otherwise, same with Verlander even at their ages. So Mets are good, Philadelphia, Milwaukee from what I have seen.
