All I can say is, I'm glad I stopped following the sport when all these ridiculous rules started taking place. The game died for me when the 1996-2001 NY Yankees dynasty ended. Whatever this sport is now, it's certainly not "baseball", it's more like computer baseball with robots calling the shot. I feel sorry for today's players, but then again, I see how much they're making and wonder, why should I? Peace!

I don't like all the new rules, but the pitch clock is one I really like. Enough with pitchers and batters taking forever between pitches. The days of Mike Hargrove, David Ortiz and Derek Jeter spending 30 - 45 seconds fixing their gloves, hat ... are hopefully done for good.

Odd that you "stopped following the sport" yet are familiar with the rule changes and continue to follow & post on a baseball message board.

X2. I never understood why batters kept fidgeting with their gloves even when they didn't swing. I was never a fan of most rule changes because I felt that it took away from the accomplishments and achievements of the OG players but now I'm for just about anything that brings the game back to 2 1/2 hours. Although, I've been recording everything I watch for years and love that FF button.

The pitch clock rule is still getting refined. I am sure other rules will too. That is one reason why I thought MLB should have implemented changes over a few seasons. I remember back in the 70s, coming home from church my dad would pop on WPIX, Abbott & Costello 11:30 - 1 pm, the Yankees at 1, and we would have dinner on the table at 3:30. If the game took more than 2 hours and 15 minutes that was extremely rare. They also used to schedule double headers, with a brief break in the middle. Both games would be over by 6:30.
