assuming rest day for gleyber. interesting leading-off w bauers. we have no bullpen today. schmidt needs to pitch game of his career. eflin's pretty togh. offense has to continue upswing it's been on since judge's return averaging 7.4 runs/game over last 7 games.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gleyber could use a rest. Been scuffling a bit the last few games, but still getting his walks.
I hope Schmidt has a good game but he is not an effective starter.
What the heck is Bauers looking for????
Geez, there's gotta be a better option than Schmidt. Maybe even IKF!
As I type this, he notched a K to strand the runner at third, but that aside, his starts are tough to watch. He can't seem to put batters away at times and usually puts the Yanks in a hole. Thankfully, the offense gave the Yanks the lead, but can Schmidt hold down the Rays? I guess we shall see...
So, of course, Schmidt immediately gives the lead away. But be sure he will be out there again in 5 days because the analytics crew, Cashman and Boone are all unwilling to admit that Schmidt as a big league starter is a failed idea..
Good job Abreu!!! Ahead in the count and pitch that?
