I'm curious on how you guys and gals are feeling about Volpe so far. I'm still a big fan. I think he has had some rookie struggles, K's are too high, BA needs to rise a bit and he's had a few uncharacteristic errors lately but he's still really young and learning. He doesn't seem intimidated and looks like a ballplayer to me. Power numbers have been a bit surprising and he can make things happen when he gets on base. Still think he's going to be a really good one.

Historically Volpe has struggled a bit with each promotion to the next level but eventually figure it out.  Your points seem valid.  Not an RoY candidate just yet, but he is contributing and I think he will get better as the season wears on.

I also like this kid and think he will get better with time and experience.

He seems to have a good attitude and a calm demeanor especially for his young age.

Volpe has made some stellar plays at SS, and a few misplays that some would be howling about if made by anyone else (IKF?). He definitely has the arm to play SS. I believe the consensus has been that he’d move over to 2B when/if Peraza comes up permanently.

Gotta like what he’s done offensively. He’s a welcome addition to the lineup regardless of which position he plays and should be a permanent fixture in the IF for many years to come.

and moving him around in the lineup batting order seemingly every other night hasn't seemed to phase him as it would some.

Boone and Cashman knew that he was going to have a tough learning curve to climb at the MLB level with minimal experience in the high minors.  The game and preparation are completely different at the MLB level where you need to mix skill and individual with opponent preparation much more than at any other level.  It's got to be overwhelming for any young player.

The good that I see is that he doesn't seem to wilt under pressure.  Sure there have been a couple of misplays but at the same time there have been shining moments in close games.  I think his K rate will come down as he learns the league; it will go up a bit again as the league figures out how to pitch him, then he'll have to adjust some more.  I just hope that the plate coverage that I saw him exhibit when playing at Hudson Valley isn't ruined by the pull happy, launch angle proponents at the big league level.

He always seems to do something good ...even on his worst days

Plays very fast offensively and defensively ... someone had compared him to Pedroia and I can see that in the way he moves.

He's gotta cut down on the K's though ... It's crazy hes on pace for 185 Ks. That's Stanton/ Judge territory  ... higher k rate then Sanchez

Jeter made errors his first year, Volpe will be fine, he does show flashes of another Jeter, but that's a big statement right now, but I do see him having a little more power and more speed... So sky's the limit for this kid..

I really like Volpe, very happy the Yankees promoted him, and are letting him play regularly. He is showing no fear of the big stage, nor NY, which is a factor for Yankees players. I want to see more of our farm players promoted, so I have liked seeing them playing on the Yanks this year.

Volpe needs to cut down on the K's, and should, as he learns the pitchers. BA needs to increase quite a bit, which is also should, as he learns the league. He has shown nice power, and he is a force on the bases. His speed and being a base stealing threat are things the Yankees need. He has done well enough at SS, strong arm. He has made errors, every rookie will, he will continue to improve. Leave him play every day, he could well be one of our next generation of Yankees stars.
