Florial is absolutely torturing AAA right now .batting .313 .441 OBP and a 1.032 OPS

I dont understand why this guy is getting blackballed ... 54 Random MLB ABs over 3 seasons (age 22-24) ... the most ABs he's ever had in a season was 31 !!!  Is that really a fair shot ???  On top of that this guy has Speed, a great Glove and was considered a 5 tool player.

Florial vs Everyone else playing LF this Season (all Guys that have had numerous chances)

  • Florial - 54 ABs - .185 .301 (54 Career ABs ...31 ABs most in 1 season)
  • Hicks -  69 ABs - .188 .263
  • Bauers - 36 ABs - .194 .302
  • Falafel -  80 ABs - .200 - .256
  • Cabrera - 135 ABs - .207 - .264
  • Cordero - 53 Abs - .151 - .182

I agree.  He's tearing it up in Scranton. OPS well over a thousand. 8 home runs. When I watch him run and field he moves like an elite athlete. He needs more than 25 at bats in the bigs to figure things out.

None of his 'brilliant performance' in AAA matters much because he still can't command the strike zone: 46 K in 115 AB.

Bauers, one of the players you're citing as having failed in the job, had even better numbers than Florial in his time at AAA this year, and his hitting has vanished at the major league level in a hail of K's (15 in 43 PA total, and he's 0-12 with 5 K and 3 BB in his last four games, dropping his BAVG from .292 to .194).

Given Florial's ridiculous K rate at AAA, and the fact that it hasn't improved over his more than 2 full seasons there (30.9% in 2021, 30.4% in 2022, and 32.2% so far this season), there's no reason to think his K rate in the majors will be under 40%, and nobobdy can successfully hit in the big leagues with a 40% K rate. Even Joey Gallo doesn't have a K rate as high as 40%.

If Florial were on the Yankees wouldn't it be as the reserve in center ?    Shouldn't the focus be on his defense ?

Surely missing Benintendi about now.   I don't think Allen or Florial is a good OF answer, they need to make a trade.

That would be the case if Bader, Stanton and Judge didn't have such poor track records with regards to injuries. The Yanks need a 4th OF who can hit some and field some.

even he's not the answer. No HRs and 10 RBIs in 42 games so far.

I have read rumours that the Yanks might bring Dominguez up in the second half. They seem to be more aggressive lately with the youngsters but I'm having a hard time believing he's ready for the big show.

Enough of the double standard crap ... it's really frustrating

Just about everyone is striking out at a 30% clip including Volpe who's on pace for almost 190 Ks and DJL who was the Yankees best contact hitter

Commanding the strike zone includes taking walks and Florial has done that at every level including the MLB ... which is why he has a plus .300 obp despite the low avg.

Bauers has 1000 MLB ABs ... hes a career .212 hitter ... He got a fair chance

"There's no reason to think his K rate in the majors will be under 40%" ... Excpet for the fact that it is !!!! WTF ??? That's exactly what I'm talking about ... his MLB K rate is 33% in 50 scattered ABs ... Volpe's is 30%

Also ... Florial basically never played in AA ... he only had about 30-40 ABs there.

In the MLB he's never played more than 3 consective game or more then consecutive 12 ABs

He didn't want to play here and he's lucky he chose not to because a .691 OPS is not the answer either
