Yankees are placing reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge on the injured list with a ligament strain in his bruised right toe, manager Aaron Boone announced Tuesday.

Cortes was expected to be placed on the injured list with a shoulder strain after experiencing “achiness” in his pitching arm between starts.

not surprising sadly. Unfortunately, we're going to lose a ton of games now.

Not sure whether the catch was worth the expected losses....

He's not smart enough to understand what hindsight is.

Praying Nestor's issue is as minor as it sounds.

And Judge is almost too athletic and intense for his own good.   A huge guy who can move like he does and who goes all out in the OF is going to run in to more than his fair share of injuries.    mlbtraderumors said it was "a bruise and ligament sprain in his injured right big toe" - no break.   Still going to really hurt to have him out.

hopefully it's just the 10 days. unfortunately a "sprain" could take more time. lemahieu had a foot injury that messed him up for quite a while. and of course greg bird has never been the same since his foot and ankle injuries.

any extended absence for judge is devastating for this team. making matters worse is bader will not be back on friday when he comes off the IL. could be another week or so before he returns. meanwhile we continue to limp along w make shift OFs and holes in the lineup.

regarding nestor, hopefully he's back when he's due off the IL, but not optimistic about that either. the good news is german has pitched great and schmitd other than one mistake in last nite, has pitched well over his last 4 starts. vazquez should be interesting but at least has the benefit of the white sox not having a book on him yet.

Any chance any of the upcoming games will be postponed due to air quality?

That is a good question. Mrs Quiz and I were commenting on the eerie yellow sky last night and she suggested I stop clearing land for few days to let the smoke dissipate. We can still smell the fire in the air.

I read there are 160 fires in Quebec and the smoke will migrate as far as newinn's home in SC!

we can only hope - at least until judge returns ...

alerts have been issued here in vermont. still low on the scale. i'm in central and it's considered satisfactory. a bit worse up north where it's acceptable.

Last night's game looked like they were playing in a dark London fog.
